Slappie 9 #1 May 20, 2003 As hard as it is for me to do. I've decided not to try and get back in the air. Maybe one day I'll want to jump again. But at this time in my life I don't "feel it" who knows. I've placed ads in the classifieds for those who wish to see what I have for sale. {not plugging really} I will miss all my friends. Now if my stuff is still here. Who knows it might not sell I may take up the sport again. I'm in one of those inbetween cycles. Where I want to jump - but dont want to jump... As far as the forums go, I hope you guys dont mind a whuffo among you posting here and there. AggieDave 6 #2 May 20, 2003 I'm to hear that man. I know you'll get back into the sport eventually, and prlbably kick yourself for not doing it sooner, too. So, you sending the main back to NacMac?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

Katzeye 0 #6 May 20, 2003 Slappie - I hear your pain. I'm in the same situation. Love the sport, love the people, don't have the motivation to jump right now. I firmly believe life goes in cycles, and in my case, this is one of those cycles where I just am not skydiving. I've known tons of people who take a couple years off, come back for a couple years, etc. No worries, we'll always be skydivers and we'll always smile when we remember those great feelings! jumprunner 0 #15 May 21, 2003 Dude, why dont you just settle down? Dont sell any equipment or youre going to regret it. So maybe you just dont feel like the risk taking adventure right now, so what??? Go out on a date, do something else, get back in the air when you feel like it. Whats the rush? You dont have to be skydiving ALL THE TIME to be a skydiver. You do it when you feel like doing it, and if you dont feel like it, do something else for awhile. I think youre getting down on yourself for no reason at all.

nacmacfeegle 0 #17 May 21, 2003 "Oh well.. Nac lemme know what'cha want. I can get it shipped to ya next week. " I'll pm you a shipping address for the main, and the spare container. I didn't want them back under these cicumstances, but I understand what your going through. No biggie. We all need a time out occasionally. I'll re-unite this gear with its reserve, and maybe it will help another fledgling find their wings. Right now I can't use the X-box, if you want it fine, if not, offer it to a kids' home/charity/AOT/sell it and save the kittens, whatever. It has served its purpose. Slappie, you were a friend to me in Texas, you've got a friend in Aberdeen, whether your jumping or not, if ever you get sent over here. Pammi 0 #18 May 21, 2003 I'm sorry Slappie (holy cow TG!). I just sold my rig as well, but those who knew me knew it was coming. I'm keeping the guts, the Cypres, though and the rest of my stuff because I don't intend on quitting. It's just financial break for right now. I'll show Merrick's rig what it's like to be REALLY jumped for a while You'll never be a whuffo Slappie. You know. You and TG will be back. I'm willing to lay bets on how long it will take too! Slappie 9 #20 May 21, 2003 Hey thanks everyone. This makes me feel good Like I just told someone in a PM. I'm rediscovering other things in my life that brought me happiness. Jetskis, fishing, boating etc.. Other things I used to do before I found the wounderous sky! They've been calling my name for awhile. The sky has become a faint whisper it once was. Maybe it'll scream at me again. I'm a very semi-active person and I don't normaly settle down to one interest for long. I haven't "quit" skydiving, I've just taken a vacation to do other things. I haven't made a jump since July last year. I took the rig in for a repak 3 weeks ago. I meant to make a jump the following weekend, to get my knees in the breeze.. Well I just never went back to pick it up.. As far as the rig goes and selling it. I've placed an ad here on DZ.com "if" I get what I want for it. Then I'll probably sell it. It's a firm price. If not. Hey, it goes into the closet for some storage. I'm sure when I feel like getting back into the sport my rig will be there and willing to save my life again "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." SpeedRacer 1 #21 May 21, 2003 hmmm.. I thought it was just me. But I took some time off, mostly because I am unemployed and can't justify blowing $ at the DZ right now. But it's also happened before. I have a lot of other interests & things to do on the weekends, skydiving is only one of them. So yeah, I also have gone thru long wuffo periods. and I did the same thing...took my rig to the DZ for a re-pack & didn't pick it up. o well, weather's been mostly shit anyway. freeflir29 0 #22 May 22, 2003 Quote But I took some time off, mostly because I am unemployed and can't justify blowing $ at the DZ right now. I took 6 mos off when I got out of the military. No job=No jump. Of course.....the same week I got a job I bought a rig. Work has gotten in the way lately with no time and being nowhere near a DZ!! But....I'm back on a semi regular schedule now. I get to jump fairly often....even if it is only on weekdays sometimes. The part I hate right now is that I don't have that "family" feel at the DZ yet. I miss walking in the hangar and have at least 10 differen't people yell "Clay's here!!!!" To all at Skydive Atlanta....I miss you guys and can't wait to come back "Home!"
