Which audible do you have?

Recommended Posts

I am doing some work on service guarantees and was wondering to what extent the L&B customer service is resulting in people buying their products over others despite them being more expensive.

To anyone into social science research, I am aware this is not a true random sample, people posting here are more likely to have the audibles with additional features as we are more likely to be 'gadgety' and hence I will not even attempt to extrapolate the result of the poll and will caveat the result in my paper!

I wrote a review on the ProTrack. I think it will answer your question about why I bought it. ;)

I've already gone through threads and gear reviews and got the general impression that people here recommend and use predominantly L&B audibles. I just wanted to see whether in number terms this translates into more people actually owning L&B stuff - and at the moment it looks like we do!

Thanks everyone who has voted!

I have a Protrack and love it. My first unit failed after a couple months of use. I contacted L&B and they had a new unit in the mail while I shipped the old one in. No questions asked, no bullshit, great customer service...

Protrack for me.....

I conned my parents into buying it for me for xmas....I sold it as a safety item....i just didn't tell them about the cheaper options out there!

I like all the features of the protrack...the info it gives me about each jump, plus I was sold on l&b's service.

Audibles I have enjoyed and why....
Dytter...the first and classic one with a big brass dial, there was no other alternative around at the time. I bought mine second hand, its original femured and died, blue skies Andy. I passed this one on to a flegling who was freeflying but couldn't afford a new audible, its karma gear.

Timeout, if you've ever met George Pilkington, then it difficult not to buy one of his products, or be swept up in whatever he is enthusiastic about. His infectious enthusiasm convinced me to get something with more than one beep.

Pro Track for data capabilities after spending a little while dabbling with speed diving, and electronic logging. George admitted he was having hassles with the software for the evo 2000 at the time, otherwise I would have bought one.

Timeout new slim model prototype. Free for testing, still have it and it still works fine.

Pro Dytter, won it in a raffle.

So this probably doesn't fit your research 'model' but I hope it helps!

ok, I admit, I forgot it :$. If the Neptunes have arrived with their owners, they can use the 'Other' option and say so in a post.

BTW - have they arrived? If so, what are they like in real life?

Well when you're doing your research about customer service, you can find out from L&B why when I bought one of the 1st Pro Dytters and it popped out of its holder I was told "that's never happened before," and got nothing, while they now hand them out willy nilly to everyone. See my review under Gear reviews. I'm still pissed off about that, and it must be 4 years since then.

(And yes, Skreamer, I'm waiting for your response.)

Unfortunately L&B are not that forthcoming. I asked them a variety of questions and Mads replied that it would be difficult to answer them.

And your experience is included (from the gear review page) which so far I can only attribute to being before they decided to offer this kind of service to convince people (including myself!) to buy the most expensive audible around.
