Cypres 2 with 0 jumps?

A friend has bought used gear and the Cypres 2 is from 2005.
But It shows 0 jumps.

Why would a Cypres show 0 jumps?
Except the obvious reason

I think the 4 year check should have been done in 2009. And next in 2013.

I'm not sure it has been checked in 2009, but it is airworthy now, so the 4 year check has been done sometime between 2009 and now.

There was no "jump counter" until a few years ago. Probably the installed it (it is just a software thing) during the 4-year-check...

you can see when the maintenance is due again. once you power on the cypres and you get the 0 displayed press and hold the button, it will go through amount of jumps/ serial number and date of next maintenance

The best you can do to find out is send a quick email to Airtec with the serial number of your unit and they wil answer all your questions. The email address that I use is info@cypres.cc

and on the Cypres maintenance paper (or watchamacallit), they write down/report the number of jumps before revision.

Given that most of the customers I have are/should be repeaters, I also write down the number of jumps at each repack, so I can keep a general track of how much they jump/abuse their gear.

I know how to find out the mainence date but as it's not mine I don't have it here.
I just found it odd that it did not have any jumps loged.
There is probably nothing to worry about.

If your friend has any worries the best way is to contact Airtec as Bram already said. They can look it up in the database in no time and tell him if something was noted at the last check-up.
