riddler 0 #15 May 9, 2003 Why would we pay for her AFF? No one paid for mine. Anyone that doesn't struggle through the financial, physical and mental hardship of AFF is less of a skydiver, IMO.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

billvon 3,070 #20 May 9, 2003 >someone might want to tell her that last year, you needed at least a B for WFFC You can jump with an A, it just has to be under the supervision of an instructor/coach/WFFC organizer.

billvon 3,070 #22 May 9, 2003 >50 jumps ring a bell to anyone? Anyone at all? Yeah, it would have been more accurate to say you can be A-qualified and still jump as long as you're under supervision. Heck, they have an AFF tent there, so people with 2 jumps can jump if they want . . .
RevJim 0 #23 May 9, 2003 True Bill, very true. How long has this been going on? Back in 98 when I started jumping, there were no "student" areas at the WFFC. Experienced only playground, from what I was told. I guess I was wrong too. "B" qualified actually isn't a requirement. Just a current logbook showing at least 50 jumps, a legal rig, and cash. They did say though that not having your "B" would mean much closer scrutiny of your log book at registration. I find that didn't happen. he checked my card, flipped through my book, and gave me my wrist band. It's your life, live it! airann 1 #25 May 10, 2003 If I had extra money to send to Gator, I would. I think she would likely make a fine skydiver. She seems to know what she wants and has figured out just about every option there is on how to reach her goal. And she seems very serious. I say GO GIRL. It never hurts to ask for help with something that you have your sights set on. Whats the worst that could happen? Can you help with my AFF? __yes __no A couple of years ago, and I now forget which Parachutist it was in, but I had given away the first AirAnn.com Fresh Air Award. The young woman who did the tandem was just 18, had given birth 3 months earlier and the child was adopted by a family via the church home she was living in. She worked on getting into college while she was there and she got accepted to a college In Calif. If she never jumps again, Id like to think that on her worst day she can just look at her tandem pictures and remember - If you can jump out of an airplane, you can do anything. It has never been my point for her to remember me, just for her to remember that within herself - she is awesome. So, I support womens skydiving and those women who jump. According to the USPA's records they estimate 14.9 percent of skydivers are women. Which is a lot higher than it used to be. Yesterday, I had replied to this post -yet my DSL crapped out on me and I lost the post and today I went back to Ebay and the item has been removed or is no longer valid or expired or something. I hope she did not get discouraged by any comments in this forum. .................AirAnn.com gives away one tandem skydive along with the Fresh Air Award for personal achievement. Less fortunate individuals who do well despite adversity, ... Women and the very common problem of low self esteem is addressed here. But the award is not limited to women. Any person who surpass difficulties in life and moves forward to achieve higher goals meet the criteria. A person shall be chosen from the nominees ............... ~AirAnn~
