Slappie 9 #1 May 11, 2003 Hey all!! Wake up!! It's 5:45am on Sunday!! Time for coffee chat Anyways, here I am wide awake for some reason. I dunno what it is. I'm just wide awake. Didn't go to bed early. It was after midnite. So I made some coffee, want some? Now in this process of making coffee. I got to thinking. Ya know the pot states "12 cups" I pour a "cup" and now the level in my coffee pot is at "10 cups" what is up with this? Do I just drink to much at a time? Or is it the people that make the coffee pots don't know how to measure. . They want me to think when the pot is full, I have 12 cups of coffee hot and waiting for my enjoyment in the morning. But in all reality I only have 6 coffee cups full!! Is this a conspiricy to make us think we've got more then we really have? Can someone explain this? Just my Sunday morning coffee chat.. I'll make another pot when we get done with these 6 cups. Carry on.. Slappie 9 #2 May 11, 2003 Ok I just got more into these thoughts. I actually decanted my pot of coffee. I then got a measuring cup out. I do actually have 12 "cups" of coffee in the maker. Still seems odd to me that when I pour some into my coffee "cup" I'm actually pouring 2 cups of coffee. Now later into the pot I'm at about the level of 8 cups on the decanter it doesn't go done in 2 cup incriments. Hmmmmm very strange.. Slappie 9 #3 May 11, 2003 On to another question... How do you take your coffee? Cream sugar? Black? Me I drink it with a bit of sugar to kill the bitterness. Use to drink it with cream too. That was just to sweet. Anyways, Cheers! It's Coffee Chat!! Opie 0 #4 May 11, 2003 You realize you've been chatting by yourself for an hour? I'm with ya now. On my second cup, or fourth if you go by the decanter increments A little sugar in it. I used to use cream but that just adds to the prep time so I skip it now but still drop in a little sugar. Weather is crap here. again

Slappie 9 #6 May 11, 2003 Quote You realize you've been chatting by yourself for an hour? Yea I know. Been up for 3 hrs now. The rest of the house is starting to stir. So I'm thinking of curling on the couch and going back to sleep. Weather is pretty iffy here. Talk of rain an the wind sucks. I've drank all my coffee. Anyone need a fresh pot? I'll make it. Shotgun 1 #7 May 11, 2003 I'm up and on my first cup - always with a bit of hazelnut CoffeeMate to make it yummy. Don't know what the hell I'm doing up at 6:13 on Sunday morning though... Maybe it's because I passed out early last night after having been up all night Friday night :-) Cheers Keely

oldnewbie 0 #9 May 11, 2003 Not only are we drinking 2 cups at a time, but my pot which is a 12 cup maker is only marked to the 10 cup line!!!! Did they run out of paint to put the 12 cup line on there??? I'm on my 18th cup (really only 9th) of good black java!

Or is it the people that make the coffee pots don't know how to measure. Ya know, I've always wondered about this myself.... The "cups" on a coffee pot have never measured out to be an actual "cup" (8oz) - I think they are more like 6 oz., so they have obviously made up their own measuring system that no one else in the world uses... Of course, I always use an extra-large coffee cup so that I can tell myself I am only having two cups of coffee (and ignoring how much coffee is actually in my "cup")
cindee 0 #12 May 11, 2003 My coffee pot is broken, so I had to go to Wawa for coffee this morning. I use half and half and sugar substitute. Sometimes I'll get the flavored coffee, but that is usually too sweet.__________________________________________________ "If happy little bluebirds fly above the rainbow, why oh why can't I?" smiles 0 #15 May 11, 2003 I am addicted to my coffee in Canada! (even bring it across the border with me when visiting U.S. as can never find a cup there that equals my taste..) Murchies Columbian is my brand for 15 yrs. Coffee pot measures do not equal actual 1 cup measures... So- to make 3 cups of coffee I fill the coffee pot with 7 cups water (never use tap water) and use 3- 1 1/2 scoops (1 1/2 tbls.) cofffee. ahhhhh! heaven!!! And 1 happy mothers day to all mom's today!! Smiles
