Guest #1 May 4, 2003 Dynamite movie, on a par with the first X-Men. Tight script; good story, decent plot, excellent pacing, terrific action...! The first blockbuster of the Summer is here! BTW - Hugh Jackman ROCKS again as Wolverine!"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."

Guest #3 May 4, 2003 Don't know - never read the X-Men comix (but I know people who did). The feature stands on its own pretty well. Whether that means that the characters are true to their print-medium originals is unfortunately not known by me... "The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." AggieDave 6 #6 May 4, 2003 I think you got that wrong, Swordfish sucked on a realism level, so anything else in the movie sucked do to the suckiness of the movie to begin with. If a movie that showed real hackers doing their thing, people would fall asleep and be annoyed that the character didn't dress trendy and wear sunglasses all the time, or showered regularly, either... --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." aneblett 0 #9 May 4, 2003 Quote How does it hold true to the comic story line of characters? I don't think that it makes sense to really compare the two because of a few things. 1) the whole artistic license thing. 2) Hollywood is ruled by the allmighty dollar so even if Stan Lee himself wanted to keep something true to a comic book and others thought that it wouldn't sell as well as the new idea then it wasn't happening. Case in point. In the spiderman movie spideys webslingers were genetic instead of made by peter parker. And the spider was genetically engineered/modified as opposed to radioactive. I know that you and I would have been fine with a radioactive spider and webslingers but it was discussed amonst the people making that film and they didn't think the general public would buy it. I guess what I am saying is that they end up making these movies to appeal to an LCD and that isn't the comic guys. AgeS.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it. AggieDave 6 #10 May 4, 2003 Yeah, those glaring holes in the story of Spiderman really bugged me. (pun not intended). I did like the line in X1 that went something like: "What would you like, yellow spandex instead?" That nice little toss back to the comic book was freak'n hilarious.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." I almost peed myself on that line. I liked X1 alot and wasn't disappointed by the second one. Even though some of the reviews I have seen haven't been favourable. AggieDave 6 #12 May 4, 2003 Trivia time: The Hulk: Pro Bodybuilders Jay Cutler and Lee Priest were used to create the CGI of the Hulk (which is funny since Jay is one of the biggest pros on the circut and Lee is the shortest). Also Lou is making a camio in the movie. (the Pro Bodybuilder who was the TV Hulk.)--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." aneblett 0 #13 May 4, 2003 Do you know what role Lou is playing if it is billed at all? I would like to watch for him. I used to watch the tv series and was young enough that I was scared of the beast. S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it. ThighMan 5 #15 May 4, 2003 I am a comic book collector and a true X-men follower. The plot was right along the comic except for the part of the Jean Gray part. The comic, it was a reentry from space. See the movie to see how they bring it about. Will there be a three. Of course. Very good movie but no Oscars but again, who cares. Go and see it.Airborne Blue Skies, No Wind Feet and Knees Together
ChasingBlueSky 0 #16 May 4, 2003 Hulk - Heard Lou was going to play a security guard. Doubt you can miss that guy, or that they would hide him much. Kinda like all the Stan Lee cameo's in the movies. [geek on] I collected comics up until college. Xmen was always my favorite. For some reason, I didn't care too much for X1 - but X2 was fantastic IMO. Good use of most of the characters, while some very major characters had very limited screen time. Most of the characters held true to the books (Pyro still needs a source to control) - but I felt all the artistic takes on the characters were well thought out (ike Kurt Vagner and Stryker who is a reimagination of Gyrich) - and at this point, can you really be upset that Bobby Drake isn't in the original line up, and is essentially a New Mutant (btw- I hope they never do the Nathan Dayspring/Cable/Stryfe story line, it just wouldn't play out well on screen - but look for the brief mention of Franklin Richards :)) Btw - can I tell you they nailed the -BAMPF- sound? And yea - they didn't use the re-entry from Space, but it was still the choice that mattered (also, I don't think the Shi'ar-Krell war would play out either). I don't think most of the non-comic audience will understand what happened however-too subtle. My hope for the next movie? Introduce Genosha Island, Muir Island, Havok (maybe even Mr Sinister), Beast, Gambit, mutant slaves, Mutant 147-aka wipeout. I think showing what Genosha does is a logical progression on the whole "coming war" theme they have been working on. Maybe even a sentinel??? End the move with Magneto and his Brotherhood taking over the island and running it. Start to mix in the Phoenix in X3, and you would have a good start for the Age of Apocoplypse and Dark Phoenix in X4 and X5. [geek off] Hmm...I should go to sleep, first load takes off in four hours!_________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... skygal3 0 #22 May 4, 2003 Baby oil? Hm. I actually never knew guys found that sexy. I thought the scent would turn them off. I found Hugh Jackman to be *so* very sexy in the first X Men..but then afterwards he seemed to be pretty arrogant, so there goes that.
