I'm sure you can put something together.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. - Edward Abbey

Cajones 0 #8 April 24, 2003 Some preliminary rules: There will be length limits. You must have rights to all footage and to the soundtrack. You must be willing to release rights to use it on the Boogie Video, and streaming on the web. There will be prizes within each category, and the Grand Prize: Avid 4.0! More details to follow... Guest #9 April 25, 2003 Quote You must have rights to all footage and to the soundtrack. Does this mean that if the creator can prove that royalties were paid to RIAA, that commercial music can be used? Or does it mean that music must be fully owned by the video maker or in the public domain?"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." PhreeZone 20 #11 April 25, 2003 Am I still eligible since I had something on the WFFC site? If any one is interested I'm approaching one of the local indi rock stations to have them send any local bands that are interested my way. If you want freebie music I'd say to do the same. Local bands are ALWAYS looking for a way to get their name out there to the masses. Cajones 0 #13 April 25, 2003 As I understand it, RIAA and ASCAP fees are paid on a per-use or per-application basis. Under this theme, I'd say "No." Part of the festival includes streaming some, possibly all, of the entries. Securing rights through ASCAP or RIAA for a website that may get 2 MILLION hits in a ten-day period would be prohibatively expensive. The film and broadcast industry people we have lined up to review the entries and interview the producers have been very specific about a 10-minute time limit, and full rights to the contents. This does not mean you must "fully own" the music. Anyone who needs a simple release form that can be signed by the artist - PM me. Sorry, Phree - as the newest member of the webteam - you're not eligible to submit film for the contest. If you want to submit an entry, it would be accepted, and I'd make sure it gets reviewed by the right people. You'd just be ineligible for any prizes. The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
