He was planted in my beloved Corps by one of the "Sister" services to bring shame on us, much like that guy in Texas, who shot kennedy from that book suppository. as a marine you should be vaguely familiar with water and so may be able to name a river in egypt..____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. beemertec 0 #179 April 21, 2003 I was talking enlisted personel. I also meant overall. When I joined in 1989, the job with the lowest asvab score out of all the armed forces was a Navy mess cook, and the highest asvab requirement was to be in the navy's nuclear power program. Of course, it has already been pointed out that the asvab was a joke anyway, but believe it or not I had a classmate who took the asvab 6 times between his junior year in high school and his 21st birthday before he earned a high enough score to be a mess specialist. If I recall you needed an overall 18 for that job. He actually took a study course in order to finally score higher than that. Blue Skies Steve Ok, so it's pink, but I'm secure in my manhood, and I still look cool coming in under it!

I hope it was a small book, preferably paperback. A much better location for an assassin would be a repository. But that's just my opinion.

misterhand 0 #194 April 22, 2003 personally i wonder exactly how DO they extract all the individuality and volition out of military personnel anyway? (sarcasm/satire here) is it like being assimilated by the borg or is it more like what the skeksies did to the podlings in the dark crystal? shine a purple light into the eyes and the person just drains out leaving behind a brush cut hairstyle and the slogan "unit corps god country"?` in all seriousness i have occasionally wished i could join the military but the sight of the mindless thousand yard stare in the eyes of all the military poster children in the recruitment ads on tv thats supposed to be somehow inspiring scares the shit out of me. i like my individuality and personality and choose NOT to be broken down and remade into somebody's wet dream of a compliant eager droid. everyone ive personally known who joined up, any branch, (ive known navy, coasties, air force, a marine and now a friend is about to join the army.... they all came back changed in a negative way. the friend who became a coastie turned from just another cool acquaintance to this prick with a buzz cut who always speaks in that projected "i am authority you will comply" voice they teach police, like everyone he deals with now is just "the subject" instead of a person. people he used to 4:20 with got threatened with arrest if they let him see it because he is now part of the federal govenment enforcement effort and cannot allow such things to go unpunished in his vicinity if he knows about it. i think he's still allowed to smile while on furlough or whatever they call time off, but he probably has to keep track of the number of occurrences and file an accountability report with his superior officers. hes not a human anymore he is a Federal Enforcing Officer and he gives me the creeps. jraf 0 #195 April 22, 2003 It is so easy to indoctrinate a weak mind. It is so easy to convince a weak mind it is strong. It is so easy to take individuality out of someone who alone feels weak. Remember that the power of the crowd is a sum of the fears of it's individual members. People who lack in personality need an organization to supplement it. They need to identify with something. It is also a very convenient way of life as you allow the organization to think for you. The text at the beginning of this thread is a typical example of that. Propaganda is there to tell you what to think and how to see the world. Notice that the well indoctrinated feable minds do not accept any other way of thought or perception. Sometimes people die because they did something STUPID. Sometimes that's a low turn, or a dropped toggle. Sometimes thats signing up for a job where you are paid to sit around and wait until someone sends you somewhere and you die cos someone else did not want you there. Don't talk to me about military.
