I asked about it in Errors and Feedback, and Sangiro said he's going to have to increase the bandwidth again. You can read his response here. So, go ahead and tell Sangiro how much the site means to you and how much you appreciate him, but then also go and click on the Donations link and put your money where your mouth is if you haven't done so already. Remember, the cost of this site comes out of one amazing guy's pocket, and like all of us, he has a budget that he has to live within also. At some point, there's going to be a limit to what he can do for us. Disclaimer: Sangiro has no idea I'm making this post. I just know how much the site costs him, and it would make your eyeballs pop out of your head if you had to do it! PhreeZone 20 #5 April 4, 2003 Sangiro actually has to have a complete server hosted for him and this site. Price raw bandwidth from someplace like Rackspace.com and see what they are asking. At one point I had the bandwidth cost figured out and it wa on the order of hundreds a month for just raw bandwidth. HH what was it... 100 gig's a month we were using about 6 months ago? 100 gig's is almost $200 more on top of the hosting fee for the server (which is a few hundred a month alone) Did we get bumped up to the 150 or 200 gig a month plan yet? skymama 37 #8 April 4, 2003 I appreciate anyone's delimma who doesn't think they can afford a donation, and believe me when I say money is really tight for me also. But, I also think that anyone who reads, posts, and learns from the site can also find a way to dig a little deeper, especially if they are able to find the money to skydive. Think of how much skydiving Sangiro has to give up because what started out as a little hobby is now encompassing a good chunk of his income every month. He's not doing it for him, he hardly even posts to the forums! He's doing it so he can provide a community for skydivers to go to on the web and I think he's doing a wonderful job. I think we all can afford to give up one jump for Sangiro this month. If you budgeted for 10 jumps, do 9, send Sangiro a donation, and have the satisfaction of knowing you did the right thing.
