lauril 0 #1 April 3, 2003 Just curious, since here in Finland everyone from at least age ten to up has a cellphone...And even younger sometimes, from about when they start school.. I think thats kinda fu**ed up to have a cellphone so young, no ten year-old needs a phone...
Lolie 0 #2 April 3, 2003 I just sort of assumed I was the last person on earth to NOT have a cell phone. Though with this summer's living arrangements (a trailer at the dz), it looks as if I might have to get one after all. -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become. dropdeded 0 #3 April 3, 2003 I think I have 3 or 4 ,none of them are working though. I dont see that all these kids need em either.I went through that crap with my 13 year old stepdaughter. She lives with her father and yes,she talked him into getting her one.She explained to him how she could NOT live without it and... dropdeded------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
indyz 1 #4 April 3, 2003 I used to swear that I would do whatever it took to avoid getting a cell phone. I ended up buying one because it was virtually impossible for my employees to get ahold of me on a land line at work. It's come in handy so many times outside of work that even if I get a different job, I probably won't get rid of it.

jumpy 0 #7 April 3, 2003 Quote now i just laugh at all the freaks who are slaves to thier phones. I'll admit that I am that person Nah I only ever use when i'm out cos pay phones are few and far between and at the dz cos otherwise i have no way of ringing anyone. But then if i don't wanna be rung i just leave it at home.. easy
WFFC 1 #8 April 3, 2003 Didn't renew the contract when it expired on my cell. I've got less than a week left at work, then the pager takes a hike too. Definately can't wait.
skycat 0 #9 April 3, 2003 only have a cell phone.....got rid of the home phone....who needs a home phone anyway. If I had kids, I would give them one of my 2 way radios...if Derek can get a hold of me to find out if I want chia tea or hot chocolate on the other side of the mountain, I can get ahold of my kids a few houses down. Lolie 0 #11 April 3, 2003 Quote If you're living at the dz, who would call you ? Or who you'd call ? Or do you have 'real' friends ? I'm 18, and my parents aren't exactly crazy about the idea that it's my first summer away from home and I'm living at the dz... they'd probably freak if they couldn't even get ahold of me. But I think I'll be able to convince them to pay for it, for that very reason. -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become. Casch 0 #12 April 3, 2003 Hmmm, I'm 18...I've been seriously thinking about spending the summer at Kapowsin...I just need to get my hands on a trailer 'cause I don't think I would last living in a cargo van which would be my only choice at the moment. I've had a cell for a little over a year now. My dad bought it for me 'cause I do a lot of driving between Portland, OR and Spokane, WA...and eastern oregon...and western washington...and california...the list goes on. It is just common sense now days to have a cell with you when you travel. You can live without it, but it would just make things more difficult than they have to be
AggieDave 6 #13 April 3, 2003 Do they have showers there? If so, then get a $30 tent from Academy or Wal-mart. It'll do ya just fine and you'll save a ton of money.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
Casch 0 #14 April 3, 2003 I'm thinking about that too...I have a couple pretty decent tents and i love to camp, but I don't know if i could last the whole summer in a tent...
AggieDave 6 #15 April 3, 2003 I think it'd be pretty cool, actually. Definately give you one hell of a "when I was your age" story for when you have kids/grandkids...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

That's exactly what I would be doing if the trailer wasn't free. (Okay, well actually, first I'd try to convince my friends with trailers to let me live with them, and if that didn't work, then I'd go to the tent option. ) -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become. AggieDave 6 #17 April 3, 2003 Man, that would be fun. Too bad I'm taking a full load of summer classes, or I'd be tempted to pull something like that. Well, never mind I live just under 10 minutes from my DZ...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

Dumpster 0 #23 April 3, 2003 Everyone in our house has one, but mine is FREE - provided by my employer - The plan includes free nationwide long-distance, so even when I call my kids in NY from the DZ in Wisconsin, the boss doesn't pay a dime. Zeemax 0 #24 April 3, 2003 cant live without mine. I've had a cell for years. over here in the UK there really isn't anyone who doesn't have one. pretty much from the age of 6 upwards. now thats scary. Texts are my big problem. I sent over a 1000 last month.. eeeekk... Thats the one thing the UK has better than the states tho.. we have better phones.!! MUAHAHHAHA when i was over, people couldn't beleive how small my phone was. What i dont get tho, is why some of your phones have two radios in them? why would you want that?
