steve1 5 #27 March 27, 2003 I love my two daughters a lot. Yet I've done some risky things with them as they grew up. When my oldest daughter was seven or eight I'd take her bow hunting. This included canoeing down river and then climbing way up high in a tree to wait for deer with Dad. My youngest daughter was a few weeks old when my wife took her hunting on her back. My wife's shot both deer and antelope with the youngest sleeping on her back the whole time. And then there are stories I can tell about my family with their horses in the mountains. When my oldest daughter turned 18 she made her first tandem. It was with a friend who had over 6,000 jumps. I don't really want to put their life in danger, but I also want them to experience adventure and some of the better things in life. Sometimes you can't do that by playing it safe.....Steve1
Skitzo 0 #28 March 27, 2003 My Daughter is 11 and did her first tandem a couple months ago, she'd been pestering me relentlessly for two years. As I could not tolerate even one more day of the endless nagging, I felt it was definitely time to throw her from the plane. She did awesome, as if she'd done it a hundred times before. She loved it, but her ears did hurt for a good week thereafter. If she decides to take up the sport it'll have to be when she grows up and gets a job because I can't support two habits! Jethers203 0 #30 April 1, 2003 Right on skygod7777!!!!! I started skydiving when I was fifteen. My buddy just took his daughter up on a tandem and she is 10. She loved it. However, I wouldn't take my daughter if I could help it. The reason is she would get hooked and I'd be broke. You can make skydiving as safe or as dangerous as you like.
