Samurai136 0 #127 March 26, 2003 Oooooooooooh. Stoner.Seriously, I given this very topic much deep though and.... uh... Pandora's Box. That's it. And money too. Get rid of money and create the ideal workers state. Not the pinko socialist workers state, Plato's ideal ordering of society (Republic). I think Plato included a warrior class in his ideal society so uh.... I think I'm gonna have another Oreo. skydiverbob 0 #131 March 26, 2003 Sig P220 is an absolute masterpiece. Very nice in the hand, not much felt recoil, which allows better 2d shot acquisition, and damned accurate right out of the box. It is a proven fact that you can get more with kind words and a gun than just kind words.Who Dares Wins

Very nice in the hand, not much felt recoil, which allows better 2d shot acquisition, and damned accurate right out of the box Bah! The Sig P220 is clunky, doesn't lend its self to combat shooting (self defense, not combat, combat) due to the feel of the weapon. Now, a Glock! They're indestructable, incredibly reliable and very accurate. Not to mention lighter and sleaker then Sigs. You can have your Sig, but I'll out shoot you any day of the week with one of my Glocks! PhillyKev 0 #136 March 26, 2003 Yeah...these gun discussions are great. Went out and got me a Glock 17 after our last one (thanks for the input Dave and Clay). Definitely a nice weapon. It's like it's part of my hand.
AggieDave 6 #137 March 26, 2003 Do you carry Federal Hydroshock? Have you seen the 147gr 9mm? Big, heavy round for a 9mm, still with a high muzzle velocity...look into it. Besure to shoot atleast a magazine of it, it feels a little different for a 9mm. Congrats on getting the Glock, I love them (as you know), and am glad you're enjoying yours. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." In most of the testing I've read, Hydrashok tends to overpenetrate. I use Federal 115 jhp. Decent penetration (10.6" through 4 layers of denim) with good expansion. Plus minimal recoil and easy on the gun (not that you need to baby a glock). Take a look at http://www.ammolab.com/9mm_section1.htm. They have penetration testing results and show the recovered rounds for a variety of different 9mm ammo shot through g17 and g19s.
AggieDave 6 #143 March 26, 2003 (edit: D'oh, mis-read the chart...nice site) Go to Federal's site and look at the stats for the different ammo. Compare the 147gr Hydro Shock to the 115gr jhp. IMHO the 115gr jhp is plinking ammo. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
mnischalke 0 #144 March 26, 2003 Always go with Corbon or Magsafe for personal defense. And, always follow up the first shot. Corbon and Magsafe are both really snappy recoilers, but they both transfer the most energy to the target in the shortest distance. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills. PhillyKev 0 #145 March 26, 2003 Doing a side by side comparison it shows the 115 having a higher velocity, higher energy in foot pounds, and better trajectory then the 147. Yeah, it's a lighter round, but it's faster, packs more of an initial punch, and is more likely to fully expand inside the target instead of passing through and wasting that stopping power energy. And you know as well as I do, it's not the round, it's the grouping of rounds you get into them that matters. Less recoil definitely helps with that. Picking ammo is about as personal as picking your nose.
