BoobieCootie 0 #2 March 26, 2003 A can of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom over hot rice. That should last you 3 meals a day for 2 days minimum. Cost: about $1 total.
JohnJug 0 #3 March 26, 2003 One word: RAMEN!! Get a case of it (24 packs) for something like $2.00. Can't get much cheaper than that. It's the ultimate Bachelor/Starving student food. dterrick 0 #7 March 26, 2003 Quote John got it right. You can add anything to those neat little noodles - ...I still do We get a brand here called "MaMa" .. they're from Thailand and the "Pork flavour" are super hot. Package ofsoup base, package of chili powder, package of palm oil/other stuff. The BEST part about them is - unlike most - these ones cook right in your soup bowl ... no boiling required, just add kettle water. $0.33/package. Mac n Cheese is good too. Add spices to the boiling water (Grace hot sauce, red pepper flakes, etc) and the noodles soak up the heat. 3 or 4 strips of well killed bacon is my favourite adjunct. AggieDave 6 #11 March 26, 2003 Step 1: Go to Sam's Club (or Costco) Step 2: Buy a case of Ramen for about $3 Step 3: Eat for a month on $3 Or what I like to do is buy can's of chili real cheap. They're about $1 a can and everyone at the DZ will love you.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
wmw999 2,445 #12 March 26, 2003 Yeah, I'd go with the mac and cheese. Get the cheap stuff. It put me through college. You can add a can of tuna and some frozen peas to make tuna casserole. Beans and rice are also good. Add some corn to complete the protein, and maybe some stewed tomatoes for flavor. SpeedRacer 1 #15 March 26, 2003 dehydrated Ramen noodles...WTF is the point? They're cheap because all they've got in them is starch, salt, and MSG. That's not a bargain, even at $0.33. Gotta throw some meat and veggies in there, otherwise it's not a meal. Cheap food? Cook up a big pot o' chili, make up some cornbread from a mix & eat it thruout the week. Chili tastes even better the second day. And you'll be a big hit on the jump plane. jessd 0 #18 March 26, 2003 Some brands of frozen pizza are real cheap too. I used to eat them all of the time when I first moved out of my parents house. When they would go on sale for $1 each I would stock up on them. Ramen noodles was another thing I ate a lot of - which has been mentioned in nearly every response so far. blewaway5 0 #21 March 27, 2003 Oh, I used make spaghetti a lot. Noodles, sauce, not more than 5 bucks total and you get enough to make a weeks worth of food. Every now and then I'd splurge and get a loaf of french bread and some mozzerella and melt that up in the oven. Magistr8 0 #24 March 27, 2003 Yes these noodles work very well. IN fact my pantry is stocked full of ramen or " Mr. Noodles". Also what works really well. for about 6 bucks you can get some ground beef and make chili. Put it in a crock pot and you have enough food to feed you for at LEAST 3 days. Lastly, I used to eat these cup of soup things all the time. they are about 1 dollar and all you need is boiling water. "Impossible is a word to be found only in the dictionary of fools."
