AggieDave 6 #27 February 25, 2003 Because I did the first one and all though I did ok on it, I wasn't happy with it, so I'm going to go do some more practice jumps so I can be happy with my flying skills. That and the weather went tits up today... --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." indyz 1 #28 February 25, 2003 QuoteJust wondering if there is anyone else here that is a shifty? Worse. I'm actively seeking shift work. Ugh. The main thing I miss about the university is my high paying, weekdays only student job. There just isn't anything around here.

suz 0 #30 February 25, 2003 QuoteKarate, Bagpipe, Bobsled and worst, a 4 year stop on Skydiving. Slap in the face= Now my Company gave FULL sponsorship to the U.S. Bobsled & Skeleton Federation (after I bailed out due to NO time-off) I can't say that your job is doing you any favors if it's sucking the marrow from your most precious part of your life that is going to effect your future. The rest of your life depends on the "NOW". Dear Mr Sled, There is always someone out there that has it rougher then yourself. You just opened my eyes. FOUR YEARS?????????????? Crikeys! That's my motto in life. Live for now. Because that's what your life is all about. That is soooooooo cool that you based buying your house on the views of the sunset! I gotta dodge a few gum trees to see the wonders of the sunset, but just like you...I rarely see it. I get a wonderful view from work!! Your efforts are worth a standing ovation dude. Keep up the hard work! Don't bother me, I'm living happily ever after

VectorBoy 0 #32 February 25, 2003 No way for twelve you are just doing four more, hell I'm allready at work they can have me for a few hours more getting up and there was the hard part. Then I get more time away. I only work 3 days one week then I'm off for 4 days, 4 nites the next week then I'm off for three. The good part comes My last thursday day shift , after which I don't come back to work for 7 days for a friday nite grave. Seven days in a row off every month. I end up gladly working most of the holidays like thanksgiving so I can make most of the labour day and memorial stuff . What sucks is my company doesn't pay for holidays, its just a day to them. You can have the x-day as long as I get all of the nite jumps off. Glen

I weaseled my way into a cushy computer job. $10 an hour to sit in a comfy chair, play with Active Directory, and write code in whatever language I felt was best. That and we had a 14 story vertical garbage chute that we would drop heavy stuff down. Never did get around to that bowling ball...
suz 0 #34 February 25, 2003 Yep. I see your point. I did have the wonders of 4 days off. I worked 8 days straight for it. But I just got a new boss at the start of the year. He didnt like the fact that the managers were away from the store for four days, so he changed our roster. Today will be my 5th day at work straight. I have another 4days to go, and I only get two fucking days off. That's why I am bitching. It's illegal, I am pretty sure for them to do it this way. But I am on a contract, so I guess they can do whatever they like! I will have to make a phone call to "wage line" I think, to see what my rights are. I just work my arse off. I read about people here that sit on DZ.com while they are at work. I only have a chance to have three really quick cigarettes at work, because I am so flat out. I know I have to look for work, I know. But it's hard when you are constantly at work. Don't bother me, I'm living happily ever after

skydiverbrian 0 #38 February 25, 2003 I work three 14-hour shifts per week. It was alot more fun when I had 4 days off - now I spend all my free time in school. In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal
jessefs 0 #39 February 25, 2003 I work 4, 10 hour days Sat-Tue from 10pm-8am. It's nice having 3 days off but working Saturday nights blows... <* Spread the Love! *>
skycat 0 #40 February 25, 2003 I work 7am-5:30pm Wed-Sat Off Sun-Tue.... Working saturdays sucks, but luckly it's winter, and the slopes are much less crowded on Mon & Tues. Which is good for me since I'm still suffering from some fears when people pass close to me due to being hit and my wrist getting broken. On the other hand I've already told my manager I'll go on strike if they make me work Saturdays threw another summer. Fly it like you stole it!
jessefs 0 #41 February 25, 2003 Let me know if that going on strike thing works for you. If you get fired, let me know that too so I don't try it

Skydiver4u2 0 #49 February 25, 2003 I feel for ya suz. Not everyone can have a job like mine. Im an outdoor adventure guide. I take people on trips including kayaking, surfing, hiking, camping, rock climbing, scuba diving, and yes SKYDIVING. plus I get to take off anytime I want to go jump. They call it Personal training. I guess you could say that unlike most people I get paid to Play. sorry for your luck suz. but keep your chin up. work hard now and save then when your not working youll have all that money to put into jumps...Anyone can ride in a plane. But it takes a special person to jump out of it. Skydive for fun. Track for life. Blue Skies.
