High School Reunions

Recommended Posts

Well, for the first time in 20 years, (yes, I'm old, that's not the point here) my old high school was actually able to track me down and give me a notice for the reunion coming up this summer. I don't have any interest in going, but I was wondering how many people do go to these things. Did any of you go to a reunion and did you have fun?

my 20th was last 2001 (2002 actually, but because the school was so small they had a reunion for the whole decade of the 80's!). i was in town (it's about 100 miles from here) but was camping. didn't make it to any of the functions, didn't miss anything. half of the class never left town so i can see them whenever i go back to visit the folks, the other half hasn't been back since graduation. despite a few attempts by me to contact a couple of friends, nobody got back to me so screw'em! :P friends seemed so important in high school, but that fades, especially after 20 years.

otoh, you could go back and show everyone you're still a hottie and laugh at all those that got fat!:D

I was unable to attend my 20th last year as I was out of the country. However, I did receive an email from one of my friends who said I didn't miss much and that it was pretty lame. This doesn't mean your reunion wouldn't be fun. I guess it depends on what your High School experience was and who is planning to attend.

Do you keep in touch with any of your HS friends?

Chris

Thanks. It would be fun to go back and pull out the ol', "I'm a skydiver" card and see the expressions on their faces.

My 20 year is this year also. I want to go (mainly to go skydiving in hawaii) but after outlaying the cash for equipment and such just can't afford to go.[:/]

Besides I got all kinds of other cool stuff I'd like to spend my money on. Like a pro-track!;)

Long live Krokus!:D

Gotta love the 80's

Actually that is the point, hence the 20 year reunion.B| Went to mine and had a blast. We did a cruse ship thing on Friday, beach party on Saturday and woke up somewhere on Sunday. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Besides Andrea I'm sure you would be the reason that they would want to have the reunion in the first place.B|B|B| Being the cool skidiver chick!!!!

I went to my ten year reunion and had a blast! I hadn't seen some of those people since graduation. I didn't even recognize some of the people I was friends with in HS! Some of them were fat, or bald, and some of them looked really old. I remember thinking, "They couldn't have graduated with me, they're old!":P It was a hoot! You should go!

I don't think there's a solid answer for this. I skipped my 10th-plan on skipping my 20th in a couple of years. But, I still live in the same area as do a lot of my classmates. We make no effort to get together now, I don't see any reason to put an event together to do that.

That....and there's a lot of stories and recollections that my wife has no business hearing:o

I was in on the planning for my 20th reunion last year. I enjoyed most of it so I'm glad I went. There is always going to be someone who wants to gripe about what is done but of course it is the people who don't do anything that fuss.

I did pull out the I'm a skydiver pictures and I did really enjoy seeing those who had gotten fat or grey. I even went and bout a really sexy dress just to show some of those "high school hotties" who are now old fat women.

I say go and strut your stuff.

I went to my 30th a few years ago. Yes, I am an old fart. I jumped into it and then drank beer with old friends. Very fun. We had a small class, and most of us were orangutangs in high school, so I enjoyed seeing most of them again. A lot of reunions involve people trying to impress each other with how successful they are. By jumping in I let them all know, I'm still nuts....Steve1

I went to my 20th and also the 30th. I had fun at both, seeing people I hadn't seen in all that time (most of us don't live in that small town anymore). Whether or not you have fun is up to you - I had fun because of the expectations I carried with me.

I intend to live forever -- so far, so good.

Andrea, not counting the one thing that put a damper on my fun, I had an absolute blast at my 20 year reunion. As we did not have a ten year reunion, this truly was the first time that I had seen the great majority of these people. Of the 73 people in my graduating class, at least 50 were in attendance; awesome. Anyway, what surprised me was that at least two classmates who live IN TOWN still were not there. They were ashamed of their looks, which made me sad; both are great friends that I regularly see on my annual trips back home.

Go to the reunion. You will have guys absolutely pining away after you.

Chuck

My 25th is only three years away. :S My email addy is on the school's alumni page (and the parental units still live in the same house when I attended the school), so one would hope that they could get in touch with me. But you never know.

Wow, so that's what it's like living in a small town, huh? There were about 650 in my graduating class in Sarasota I think.

While it would be fun to play the skydiver and hopefully get told I look better now than I did in high school, I don't think I'll go. When I was there, I always hung out with the swimmers because we spent 4 hours a day together and many weekends a month at meets. So, the only draw for me would be if there is going to be a lot of swimmers there and there's no telling if there will be. I"ll save my money for jumping.

I missed my ten year reunion due to being so close to my due date of my first born. I did attend my 20th Class Reunion and had a great time. When I attend High School, I was a little on the "plump" side, and have since slimmed down. Not many people knew who I was. At the time I attended the reunion, I was also working at a DZ as an office manager. That sure raised a lot of eyebrows. They handed out awards for "Most Changed" and "Most Interesting Job". Needless to say I won both. Going to the reunion also allowed me to open up some paths to lost friendships. I'm still in contact with some of them. Because of being in touch with them, a handful of them came out to Perris and watched JFTC last year. Then we all went out to dinner. It was a good time.

I'll be turning 40 in October of this year. But I do look younger (late 20s and/or early 30s) than I really am. And being single and doing things like skydiving makes me live the lifestyle of someone in their 20s. :)
