Stray bullets do not discriminate, they kill Go to your child, look at your expecting wife and tell them: Tic..toc..tic..toc.. Humility is a great thing? I agree.. Please explain to me what great act of service has taught you humility? What sacrifice have you made for others? Rhino

christopherm 0 #56 March 18, 2003 We're defending the US and the world, that's what you fail to see. I can't fathom why that's so hard to comprehend. If I started a job in the cubicle next to you and you found out instead of writing memos all day, I was playing with pipe bombs, you would probably tell your boss and I would be fired. Or would you say it's not really fair to fire me because I haven't set one off yet. It might hurt my innocent kids, and if you fired me, I would be more likely to come back and set one off. That's ludicrous.-So, how hard is the ground?!

billvon 3,070 #60 March 18, 2003 >In this war, any civilian deaths will certainly be accidental. Agreed, but it might be tough explaining that to a man whose lost his entire family to an 'accidental' bombing of a refugee center. It might be very tough indeed to convince him that the US is not the enemy, and that he shouldn't seek revenge against us, because we decided that his family was an acceptable loss. And when we can't convince him of that, we will help create the next generation of Al Quaeda. Maybe that's neccessary, but we should accept the risk of another 9/11 now, and tell ourselves that toppling Saddam is worth living with terror for a long time. rhino 0 #61 March 18, 2003 Bill you could be entirely right.. You could be entirely wrong. I know many Iraqi's are leaving the cities.. Many Iraqi's in Britain can't wait for Sadham to be gone so they can go home.
Genie 0 #62 March 18, 2003 Quote Quote True - but if the UK soldiers go in and the war is later determined to be illegal then they are liable for charges for war crimes. Quote That is absolute bullshit.. The UN is officially over.. Offically? when did that happen? I agree completely that it has been discredited, probably beyond redemption but i didnt see Kofi Annan say it was going into Chapter 7 or anything. In addition to which I wasnt referring to the UN, i was referring to the ICC, to which the UK has signed up and the US has not - which is why i was specifically talking about UK soldiers. This is different from the UN because both the US and UK are apparently members of the UN. Apparently. Genie

That would be a logical thing to do. But if he followed the path the US was taking, he'd ignore the company because their management was too clumsy, go to your house, try to kill you, miss, and kill half your family instead. Then he'd expect the other half of your family to be grateful to him. After all, he tried to kill you, a dangerous man! Killing the rest of your family was just a small accident, completely understandable.

sfc 1 #66 March 18, 2003 Although I don't think our leaders are being totally honest about the reasons for this war, I do reluctantly support the action being taken by the UK, USA and the other Allies. I do think it is very very sad that it has come to this, but time is up and we are going to remove a very evil man from Iraq and maybe make life better in the long run. However what I can't understand is the gung-ho joy that some people seem to be taking at the impending death and destruction about to occur in Iraq. I think this kind of attitude is perverse and sick and is a sad reflection on our society.

christopherm 0 #68 March 18, 2003 Apparently, the UN has members that want nothing but to stop any progress. The French remind be of having a stubborn little sibling. Now that they know we are going to war, they have already apologized for any contributions they made to Iraq having WMD. They just want to be included in the aftermath, unfortunately they don't have big enough genitalia to actually help stand up for the world.-So, how hard is the ground?! Genie 0 #69 March 18, 2003 Quote Quote I dont live in the US - im not worried about me. I am worried about innocent people being killed Quote Tell that to the 60,000 Iraqi's Sadham gassed.. Tell that to every man and woman that would not play his game that was dipped in acid that over a period of about 5 minutes melts their skin off and kills them slowly. You have no clue who this man is.. Rhino - read all my posts before you jump to conclusions huh? Im not anti this war - im sad its happening, the repercussions on the entire world will be horrific, the number of people who will die - innocent people coz as far as i am concerned all soldiers on all sides in this are innocent - not to mention civilians. And i dont want to watch something like 9/11 on tv again. Thats my point. The liklihood of terrorism increasing in the US from this seems to be really high - hey the CIA FBI and everyone else believes this. Not only will there probably be Sadaams own cells, but it could also be seen as a great opportunity for all the other groups who have issues with the States to go in and stir up sh1t. Because of this probability the freedoms tht have already been curtailed will no doubt be curtailed even more. US citizens will be in fear at home. This i do not welcome. Thats my point. Im not saying this shouldnt happen, i dont have any other answrs and i agree he has to go. But it aint gonna be easy or quick, the reverberations will go on for years. Ignore the company and police, go to his house, open up with an AK-47, kill half his family but miss him, thus allowing him to kill a few thousand more people? Is that your idea of a solution? I would remind you that we planned this exact same thing in Afghanistan over a year ago. We killed a bunch of people but missed our stated target, Bin Laden. Here's a better solution. Get the police involved. Tell them about what he's done while not letting him out of your sight. Get the resources of the entire police force to arrest him and, failing that, shoot him. Problem solved.
