jraf 0 #203 March 18, 2003 Quote Quote They do it for a paycheck The height of pompous, self righteous idiocy is to explain to other people their own motivations. I accept your oppinion. In my oppinion anybody who is in the military and believes that he/she is sacrificing themselves is in the wrong job. Yes, let's face it, it is a profession. I have not heard firefighters or police officers braging about their sacrifices. You are entitled to your oppinion, however your arguments are weakjraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. billvon 3,065 #204 March 18, 2003 >I view my oppinion, but tolerance is most important to me, so call >me a fool. If you took it that way, sorry - I didn't mean you in particular. I was answering lowpullin, who said "BUT this CRAP about A PAYCHECK is just that CRAP!!!My husband DOES not and DID not sign up for a freaking PAY CHECK!" She knows better than just about anyone why her husband signed up; people who think that _they_ know better than she does are fools. >Everybody who serves in the armed forces does so voluntarily. They >do it for a paycheck. Right. And everyone who skydives has a deathwish. And all Arabs are terrorists. Those generalizations simply don't work. You don't know why people serve, and to say that you know that all of them do it for the paycheck is foolish. I know several people who serve for far different reasons, people who could make a lot more money in the civilian world.
jraf 0 #205 March 18, 2003 Everyone who skydives has to count with a malfunction, correct me if I am wrong. Now everybody who enlists must count with being called to combat duty. I hope everybody who enlisted realized that beforehand. I am not discussing the inner motives here (statistics show that part) but merely stating the fact the military people are paid to perform a job. It might be a risky job, but it is a job. If you want to go into the motivation for joining the army, statistics show that job security and glamour are the winners.jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Nevets 0 #208 March 18, 2003 QuoteThere is no military draft in the United States. Everybody who serves in the armed forces does so voluntarily. They do it for a paycheck. Unless you were drafted or serve for free, don't brag about it. People who do not serve are lucky that there are enough volunteers, so that there is no draft. Other than the 200 men from Poland who have been commited, it may very well be a unilateral invasion. yes the group has grown to 40, yes 40 nations. I have heard and yet to confirm even Germany has sent decon teams.
