nutellaontoast 0 #1 August 2, 2012 Does anyone have experience painting a G3? Which combination of paints/primers work and/or don't work very well. Any other considerations, etc. Thanks!Don't let the fact that I sound like I think that I know what I'm talking about fool you. I know that I don't know what I'm talking about
LongWayToFall 0 #2 August 2, 2012 I hope there is a G3 helmet out there I don't know about... lol
blueblur 0 #3 August 3, 2012 Yeah, I know I'm new too, but I'm hoping you learn that you don't paint fabric... you dye it. And I wouldn't dye an existing container unless you can COMPLETELY disassemble it to where you have nothing but fabric attached. No metal, rings, strap keepers, whatever...In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. That's all you get, so appreciate them while the time you have with them lasts. - RiggerLee
mahonie10 0 #4 August 3, 2012 I think the OP is talking about the G3 helmet. not the mirage G3 container. could be wrong though
hillson 0 #5 August 3, 2012 Pretty sure he's talking about a Cookie G3 helmet vice a Mirage G3 container...

scottymccomas 0 #13 August 7, 2012 Although I have no experience painting helmets I saw this G3 on Jeb Corliss's Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=345765552133071&set=a.174465782596383.34744.171260932916868&type=3&theater), he also provides the link for the artist who did the painting, so im sure you could ask him for some professional advice. Its Monday, Ill ask the same question at the DZ on Saturday. When I'm there...

strife 0 #17 August 27, 2014 I would say its better than OEM has it has a 2k clear coat finish. This helmet was a pretty beat up G3 and now is great. It cost me 250AUD including postage.
shift 0 #18 August 28, 2014 I painted/hydrodipped mine as well. Used generic walmart primer/paint, and dupont clear. Has only been painted a few months but it seems to be holding up well. If you do it yourself, a good clearcoat will do most of the protection from bumps and sun damage.
wstcstcmtr 0 #19 August 29, 2014 Ya that looks pretty good. Did you do any sanding before teh primer?

wstcstcmtr 0 #23 September 1, 2014 Too late! Sanded and did the primer today... I'll probably end up screwing it up though, so he can fix it!
Doug_Davis 0 #24 September 1, 2014 If you hydrodip it can yuo tape off areas you dont want the film to adhere to? Like tape off a flame pattern and have the film coat only stick to the non-flame areas?
