karma 3 #1 March 10, 2003 So there I was looking forward to the ju-jitsu training this evening. So I go to the dojo and I'm ready to start. A bunch of us where just gooving around before the training began, just doing some moves, give each other advice, you know showing off. So I start sparing with this other guy. Al is well until he decided to do some kicks. Off course I try to block them and in the process my fingers get in the way. That hurts. So I get some ice-packs to cool it down. After 20 minutes it still really hurt, so I decided to go to the hospital. Once there the waiting game began. Luckily I didn't have to wait all that long. Turns out it isn't broken, thank god for that, it's just badly bruised. So no training for me for a couple of weeks, really bummed out because off that. Moral of this story, don't try to block a kick with your fingers.

homer 0 #4 March 10, 2003 If you ever make it to the states lets spare. Since moving back to Washington State from North Carolina I haven't been able to find a style I liked. It sucks sparing with a heavy bag it doesn't fight back. CSA #699 Muff #3804

Cajones 0 #9 March 10, 2003 Training accidents happen. They do suck. Another Sensei gave me a nice spinal compression I still feel from time-to-time. Kind of a fat guy that didn't understand the idea of slowly applying the technique while I talked about counters to the class. It was part of my Sandan board, so I had to function as best I could for a few more hours with it. Thank atheists for good Chiropractors. He could see my misalignment when I walked in the door. I sure do miss that guy - I hope I can find a good one wherever I end up settling down. The laws of physics are strictly enforced.

GrumpySmurf 0 #13 March 10, 2003 ukemi -> Japanese PLF PLF is result of one trying to land a canopy half the size and twice the speed of thier normal canopy. Ukemi is the result of one being tossed by someone half thier size and twice thier age. Both allow one to repeat the experience without the intermediate step of visiting the ER.
