Which natural disaster worries you more?

What about being struck by an Asteroid? Seems pretty bad to me!

I thought the same thing. That would be the worse hands down I believe. An asteroid or meteor hitting the planet would probably cause in addition to just hitting our planet all the other disasters mentioned above too...[:/]

Holy! I did not know I had camped in a Super Volcano last Sept.:o

I guess that makes sense - lots of geo-thermal activity (springs, gysers, lava pools, ++)

Lot's of animals, and I sure miss the sound of elk buggling as I fall asleep.

I also saw a part of the park that burned down about 10~12 years ago. Still charred.:|

One house, two people. I "gained" a house that way. Funny, I thought it was just as much mine as it was his.

We decided between us what to do. Anyway, in my case he just went out and bought a bigger one.

Definitely a forest fire/wildfire, mainly because of our current living situation. We live out in the mountains east of Albuquerque, near a national forest. It's been INCREDIBLY dry the past couple of years, and they are already predicting a "catastrophic" fire season for 2003.

What makes it bad where I live is that there isn't really a "town" so to speak. There's pretty much houses spread out all over, on 1, 2, up to 10-acre lots, covering a couple hundred square miles. So there would be no good place to dig a fire line...there would be hundreds of homes lost, guaranteed.

Eeek...I don't want to think about it.

We had a little 5. something a few years ago. Woke me up. Thought it was a flash back. I don't like it when the planet moves.

I've lived in the south almost my entire life and have experienced more hurricanes than I can even count. They don't really bother me much because you know when they're coming and you know that they're going to pass over you within in few hours. I did have a nervous night one night when one came through Montgomery, AL and trees started falling down next to my house that I had just closed on 10 days before! Tornadoes are a lot more scary to me because they come on so suddenly and do so much damage within a few minutes.

Wildfires were a new experience to us a few years ago, and that was quite nerve-wracking. It seemed like every morning that we woke up, more and more damage was done, and there was no rain expected to come for days on end. It just kept spreading to new areas. The fires were about a 45 minute drive away from me, but the smoke smell was still getting in my house through the vents.

I vote tornado with wildfires coming in a close second. The sudden and unavoidable impact of a tornado scares me..and fire has always been a great fear of mine. It's funny for me to see blizzard listed though; growing up as a New England girl with a mom who thinks there is nothing better than snow..my mother would pray for us to be snowbound and even today she is not content until the snow piles higher than her windows..every spring she wants "one more good snowstorm" of the season.:D This is also the woman that when asked out of anywhere, where did she want to honeymoon..she chose Vermont. :S

As a skydiver, I would probably have to add dust devils. They are probably more likely to getcha and getcha good under canopy than any of these bigger disasters and you can't even see them in some instances...
