It's not just France not supporting the war and the U.S. It's a majority of the world against U.S. policies and the war.

I'm not a European-American or any other kind of sub-grouping of American. I'm an American -- period.

I respect that. I do find it rather ridiculous when people trace their roots back five or six generations and then call themselves Irish/Italian/whatever American because of that one set of ancestors. Did they only marry other Irish/Italian/whatever Americans through the generations? I don't think so.

can't we all just agree on the phrase
"fuck everybody"?

we all have our little quirks, bad food, bad politics, fat asses, no asses. what difference does it make?
we are all humans, and just as fucked as any other human on earth.

being human blows, thats why we skydive, to be more like a different species!:P

I wish most Americans would get a passport and go see the world for themselves. Form some of your own opinions and get educated by the real world rather than just a television. (that second sentence is meant in general, not at anyone in particular)

Well, the French government and the French military. So that incompasses French people/France. Sort of like how other countries encompass Americans with what a single portion of my government is doing.

Eitherway, my statement is true, go look it up if you've never seen it before.

I think it's time for Aggie jokes. College Station, where men are men and sheep are scared. Where if Reveille wants to piss on your boot, you let her.

You don't dare poke fun at Aggies, because they might steal and eat your mascot (Bevo), kill your owls, keep you trapped in the stadium after a game, or threaten your mascot (Red Raider) with a sword. These things are also true. If you only think about them, then you ignore all the good stuff that also comes out of A&M.

Everyone comes from somewhere. Currently I come from Houston; I am also a yankee, and I lived in Brazil for a long time. Each of you might live somewhere else someday, and if you keep an open mind, you're more likely to enjoy it.

Dave, don't take this personally, it's really not meant that way. It's just that Aggies make a good target when you went to Rice. And there's good stuff that comes out of France.

Thanks, makes it that much easier, if you can tell some one to fuck off, and they can tell you to eat shit...you can shake hands and be on your way!'

makes sense to me

Both of my parents were born in France. My whole family is still lives in France except my mother and father. I am proud of my French heritage. My folks are not a bunch of pussies and neither am I for that matter. Your jokes and everybody elses jokes about France surrendering at the drop of a hat are getting old. Germanies army's were close to unstopable...

Ignorant...[:/]

I think it's all petty and silly.

Yes, Vichy was shameful; yet, there were a lot of Free French who risked their lives to fight the Germans in an ugly shadow war that lasted until the Liberation. They also (at the risk of being summarily executed) saved a lot of downed American aviators from being captured, among them Chuck Yeager.

The French government is opposed to war with Iraq for economic, not moral reasons. The French are owed a lot of money by Saddam, and French oil companies have development deals with Saddam's regime. If Saddam is overthrown, they'll lose their shirts.

The French are doing the same thing we're doing - acting in their own self-interests. That's Machiavelli, and c'est la vie.

Hmm, for me it's French, Italian, Irish, and Austrian. Supposedly my great great grandmother, Rosina Rosario, was a champion silkworm picker in a town near Palermo. Never saw the trophy though.

I can pick from four different nationalities as a basis to be offended by jokes (What's the difference between an irish funeral and an irish wedding? One less drunk.) I can claim that my grandparents fought racism in NYC around the turn of the century (Irish need not apply; Irish and blacks use back door.) Still, none of that bothers me; I've seen France, Italy and Ireland firsthand, and nothing a parochial american says about them is going to bother me.

By the same token, of course, I hope that jokes about american troops are taken the same way by americans. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, and if you feel offended by some french joke about, say, wacko american soldiers, remember that you decided such jokes were OK.

This was too much! There is a coalition of 90 countries supporting US policies, (against Saddam) you chose to hear the ones that oppose. 2) Do you speak German? If not you can thank my Grandfather and Uncle. 3) Why do you hate the Iraqi people so much? What if the US just fought Japan, and decided to debate Hitler in an anti US setting like the UN Securities Council:(

As any soveriegn country should be able to.

Maybe if people and countries treated each other with a little more respect we could all agree on more things or at least disagree amicably.

One thing my European parents taught me is to respect others and earn others repect. You can not impose it upon someone.

Actually there are quite a few other people to thank to, not just Americans. Not even a majority.

And thanks to my GrandFather who was in the resistance. BTW I'm greatful for your help to fight against the dictatorship.

It's too easy to make such comments... My turn:

Is there a portrait of the British Queen on you one dollar bill? If not you can thank my ancestor. :)
I don't want to run into a infantile debate, just try to understand and look around you. Do not think US is the center of the world and that every body should follow them with they eyes closed.
