Daizey 0 #1 March 1, 2003 Does anyone know how to get Greyhound coupon codes? Or any other discounts? Also, anyone care to share their experience/or any information regarding Greyhound? I maybe be travelling it soon, so I was looking for some info and ways to make it cheaper *daizey*
blewaway5 0 #2 March 1, 2003 I've taken them a time or two. As far as discounts go, you just got to catch them usually, at least I think so. Could be wrong, though, it's happened before. I know I got a decent discount a couple times using my old college id. If you're a student or happen to have an old one you might try that. Also, it helps if you can book in advance. I forget how long it is, something like a month or two, bt that'll keep it reasonable too. Whatever you do, just be prepared for a long ass ride. They do stop in almost every town a person needs to get on or off, so that can really rack up the travel time. Truman Sparks for President
Lolie 0 #3 March 1, 2003 If you have a Student Advantage Card, you get 15% off most Greyhound tickets. The card is 20 dollars, and you can use it for discounts at lots of places: Barnes & Noble, Tower Records, Amtrack, some hotels, US Airways, etc. -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become. Emmie 0 #4 March 1, 2003 HI, I myself haven't had the pleasure of riding on he greyhound, but my boyfriend just did, and from what I hered it was a total nighmare, and he can pretty tolerate anything! The bus had a million stops, so the travel time was forever, then they almost lost his bags, it was filled with a buch of low life people, and it pretty much sucked. He ended up taking the amtrack back home, and it was cheaper, and also much better than the bus.
mountainman 0 #5 March 1, 2003 Follow the movie: planes, trains & automobiles. From what I've heard about taking Greyhound, you'd be better of hitching with some truckers. LOLhttp://www.brandonandlaura.com
wingnut 0 #6 March 1, 2003 it all deends on what you ant to do and pay for riding the bus. i rode a greyhound backin 99' from atlanta to columbus ohio and it was a 15 hour trip. lots of stops along the way but if yor in one of the stps you care that they are stoping there! it will normaly ake twice as long on a bus as it would if you were drivng it by car yourself butit is cheap, think they still have the anywhere in the u.s. for 99 one way thing going and you can sleep if you want (watch for dudes sitting near you to be staring at you when ya wake up) but oher than that it is pretty much okay... you will meet some interseting people and if you go intoit open minded and don't mind the long travel time is is pretty good. durring the christmas boogie lolie tok a bus from tucson to home and she stoped over for a few hours in salt lake city. i picked her up and we hung out for a bit.... it took her almost a day(24 hours) to get ther because of stops and layovers. it took me 10 hours to drive it in my car... have fun where ever ya go.... my advice though is take a train if ya can get one where you are going....(east/ north east coast or up orth in the u.s.) p.s. if ya want to trade a plane ticket for special favors i'd be willing to do that.... i already talked to your cuz and he said he didn't mind......... p.p.s. hey get your mind outa the gutter when i said special favors i ment like a back massage and you packing my rig for me.......... ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
Daizey 0 #7 March 1, 2003 lol...hmmm...perhaps soemthign could be arranged haha My plans right now are to travel form NY to Vegas. According to Greyhound, the trip would take 2 days and a few hours. On of the routes said 1 day and 23 hrs! is taht even possible!?I'm not planning on going alone-i'd be with some good friends so there wouldn't be too much boredom. Originally we were gonna drive-but this way is much cheaper...less wear and tear on the car, lno worrries about the gas, yet i still get to see the country along the trip. From what I have seen, its possible to take a northern route out there and a southern route back, which is somethign i think would be sweet! Thanks for the advice so far...I am getting really excited about this trip.... *daizey*
ChileRelleno 0 #8 March 1, 2003 The dregs of society are on the busa and all their diseases with them, I've bussed it b4 and never again if I can help it. I always came down sick after a trip by bus, 3 bus trips 3x's feeling like cold stepped in dogcrap. Planes, trains and autombiles is absolutely correct, as for hitching rides with truckers... Take it from a trucker, DON'T! 95% will think your a "Lotlizard" (Hooker) and you know what they'll want. ChileRelleno 0 #10 March 1, 2003 Not to mention that Greyhound isn't as cheap as they used to be, they raised their rates awhile back. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
Daizey 0 #11 March 1, 2003 Quote planes, trains & automobiles. Too bad they're all very expensive! I looked at train prices....for 3 people to take amtrack cross country...its $1500!!! Plane is expensive too, and not sure i wanna do the plane thing-If i am going cross country, I wanna see it! Car would be wayyyy to expensive...gas, potential problems...plus ot would take longer cause we'd get tired. I'm really not minding the time its gonna take to geto out there, like i said i have some friends going and we're gonna have a good time on our way out! Plus, its all gonna be worth it when i get there....Vegas....Cali...Perris...get to see my coolest cuz...and some others.... *daizey*
PhreeZone 20 #12 March 1, 2003 Imagine sitting in a chair for 2 days straight... its not worth it. Hop a plane and be done with it. Its only nice to go cross country if you can stop when you want to and stay to look at things as long as you want to. In a car you can make detours to hit sites like the only Trex footprints in the world (NM) or hit a certian restraunt or meet some DZ.com friends... Amtrack is a nice option since you can walk around and they keep the speed up for most the trip, but a plane in 5 hours your there. No need to spend half your vacation time getting there.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Snowflake 0 #13 March 1, 2003 I took a bus from Dallas to LA once and I'd rather get a sharp stick in the eye then ever do that again. It sucked ass I meet people that I didn't want to (even armed with my book and walkman) stopped everywhere and none of it too scenic. I vote take the car unless it's something major thatss gonna go plus with three people you can really make time if you like. I've made it from LA to Dallas in 20 hours driving time and one ticket. I loved my RX-7 PS If your talking about three women on the bus I would forget that idea altogether unless you truly like attention

Snowflake 0 #15 March 1, 2003 Ahhhhh optimistic youth....well I hope you never get old and bitter like me cause then you'll actually see that it's not an adventure it's a pain in the ass. 3 days on the bus aggggggggg I can't even imagine it in my worst nightmares and the trip back is when you really get to feel the adventure
Daizey 0 #16 March 1, 2003 haha. I figure, hey I'm young. May as well learn the hard way, right? lol, plus this is the cheapest way out there. All of us being college students and me planning on making my first jump while i am out there (maybe-if i can wait that long Sitting in a chair for 2 days? doesn't sound tooo bad. LOL i can deal....plus the layovers aren't bad...actually i am thiking i woulnd't mind a long one...would get to see a bit of the different cities... lol, i am so psyched about the posibility of this that trying to be optimistic isn't even very hard...even with all of the warnings... *daizey*

mountainman 0 #20 March 1, 2003 Whatever you do... don't take the bus. I'm serious. You will regret it. If you spend a couple hundred more, you'll be able to be somewhere for 2-3 days longer since you won't be cramped on an uncomfortable, diseased bus. http://www.brandonandlaura.com
Lolie 0 #21 March 1, 2003 My goodness... what kind of horrible experiences have you guys had on the bus??? I've made more than one two-day trip by myself on the Greyhound, and didn't think it was so bad. If I had been with two of my girlfriends, it would have been a lot of fun! -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.
