PaulHitchman 0 #1 October 22, 2002 Myths and legends, facts and figures. I wonder how many couples both skydive compared to couples with only one skydiver. Or is this a loner sport? Is this a male dominated sport or female, how do the percentages shape up. Legends run wild claiming that only couples where both skydive last the test of time. True or false. I wonder... Let the statistics unfold...
nacmacfeegle 0 #2 October 22, 2002 I skydive, she doesn't, and we have lasted about 11 years.... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. pds 0 #4 October 22, 2002 she is the one that kicked me in the ass to finally start jumping. so now she is in a perpetual state of pissed ;-).... not because i am jumping, but because she is not jumping with me(has to work weekdays). ;-( so weekends are now even more enjoyable.namaste, motherfucker. cop 0 #5 October 22, 2002 I'm jumping, she is not. My ex took the highway because of my jumping, let's see how long this one lasts. So far, so good, maybe in the future there stands "so what". And honestly; do you really want to bring your GF to the DZ? "You can call me Mike"
mouth 0 #6 October 22, 2002 As of quite recently it is just me and my rig. She doesn't complain or get jealous thankfully. It seems to me there are lots more guys than chicks. The chicks are more independent than your regular female thus we tend to be single or so it seems. Just my .02 Lisa -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit. mountainman 0 #7 October 22, 2002 The wife and I both did our first tandem together and AFF together. I am about 12 jumps in front of her, but we both really enjoy jumping together!http://www.brandonandlaura.com
weegegirl 2 #8 October 22, 2002 He is the one who convinced me to cutaway my whuffo boyfriend and go all out in the sport. Hmmmm.... funny how we ended up together days later.
Pammi 0 #9 October 22, 2002 Merrick and I started together (decided to 'try it just once' then was hooked) a couple years ago and are both still helplessly addicted together. Twice as expensive, but none of the bitching for wanting to go to the DZ (except from the kids ) Pammi
skycat 0 #10 October 22, 2002 A year and a half and going strong. We rarely get to jump together cause he is doing student jumps, but we do set aside boogies to jump with eachother. Plus I get free rigging. Fly it like you stole it!
Skystorm 0 #11 October 22, 2002 Cutaway from a whuffo b/f because he wouldn't let me jump.Began jumping and this guy was giving me pointers, ended up going out. That was 2 years ago, and still going strong. Our ration on guys/girls in my club is 1:10, me being the only female in the club. The other guys' SO/wifes/girlfriends are always bitching about how little attention they get when we skydive. I don't think I could ever go out with a whuffo. He would drive me nucking futs if he's always complaining about my skydiving time. Gene Police: "YOU!! Out of the pool, NOW!!!"
bluefingers 0 #12 October 22, 2002 Quote The chicks are more independent than your regular female thus we tend to be single or so it seems. with you on that opinion .... the last b/f went so far as to tell me that, and he would piss on my grave if I went in .... charming fellow, really ... skydiverchick 0 #13 October 22, 2002 mortal men can't handle skychicks. I find most wuffo men to be intimidated by me and my sky chick friends...the only two options then are to date a skydiving man or better yet a skychick (at least they understand) Mother Hen
narcimund 0 #14 October 22, 2002 He jumps and so do I. I got him into the sport a year ago and now he's got 100 jumps including one BASE. I love our two-way team. First Class Citizen Twice Over
scottbre 0 #15 October 22, 2002 I don't qualify to participate in this poll. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project
Beeron 0 #16 October 22, 2002 I jump and my fiance runs manifest....(which can have some nice bennies We actually met at the DZ and sat next to each other in the plane (sunset load) for our first tandem jump early last year.
wildblue 7 #17 October 22, 2002 Quoteme and my ky chick friends So... uhh.. is that like the Budweiser Girls? The "KY Chicks" it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
skybytch 273 #18 October 22, 2002 You forgot an option or two... "S/he didn't understand so now we aren't together anymore" and... "S/he used to but got injured and can't jump anymore" My ex and I started jumping together. He broke himself; quit jumping after that. He never was as into as I am anyway, but he understood why I was so into it. The breakup wasn't skydiving related. I won't date a non-jumper. It's too much fun to jump with your s.o. jtval 0 #19 October 22, 2002 Im single but I would have to choose that both of us skydive. Im not neccessarily prejudice...just biased! My photos My Videos
diverds 0 #20 October 22, 2002 Met her at the dz. Jumped with her. Jumped on her. Married her. Life is good, she even packs for me sometimes. :) Skydive Radio
Airhead 0 #21 October 22, 2002 Well you jumped into this thread, man - at least ya gotta have an opinion on it. Currently I am single & not involved with anyone BUT I gotta an opinion on this one! I think it might be difficult if your love interest was not in the sport. Skydiving is a passion. If your love doesn't "get it" there is gonna be conflicts and trouble in paradise! CanuckInUSA 0 #22 October 22, 2002 If I could find myself a skydiving girlfriend, then maybe I could include myself in this poll. But for the time being I guess I'll just have to say that I'm contempt with my single status. I am taking a girl (yes she's a whuffo) to an Avs NHL hockey game tonight. But I really don't see my thing with her going anywhere. So any of you single skydiving babes interested in an adventerous (but relatively new to the sport) skydiving guy? I still have stability issues with my free flying (free first and head down), so any skydiving goddesses will have more to teach me than I could teach them. But I am pretty good on my belly and I really do like being on the bottom. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
Deuce 1 #23 October 22, 2002 I jump all day Saturdays unless there's something we gotta do as a family. Sundays are reserved for Church and family stuff. She's done a couple tandems, one with me, likes the people, they like her. It's all good.
skydiver51 0 #24 October 22, 2002 I skydive and she doesn't. She runs manifest. She hasn't made any jumps for fear her knee wouldn't hold up. She had the knee cap knocked off to the side when she was pretty young and has slid out a time or two since. She loves the sport and being around skydivers and could pass the first jump course after hearing it taught so many times. We will be together for ever. Her at manifest and me jumping and videoing. base698 14 #25 October 22, 2002 Ironically three weeks ago they were talking on NPR about finding people in your comfort zone. IE a place where you can be yourself. I thought... Hmmm definitly the drop zone. Then three days later I met my new gf at a dz. We decided to take a road trip and despite distance things seem to be going quite well. I've never dated another jumper in my 4 years of it. Hope it turns out well
