phatcat 0 #1 March 2, 2003 CD-RW meaning CD-Ruiner/Wrecker. Put blank CD in, click "Write", and a few minutes later your CD pops out and is now trash. Cool huh? Oh yeah, thanks for all the suggestions in my 80's music post, despite the fact that all the shit I downloaded (on dial-up)is now USELESS
AggieDave 6 #2 March 2, 2003 What error are you getting? Is it a buffer underrun? If it is, are you running trash in the background while trying to burn a CD?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
phatcat 0 #3 March 2, 2003 No, I was running with everything else closed. I kept getting "unspecified recorder error". I tried at as slow as 8X but it still won't go. It only seems to be audio CD's, ISO still works fine.
AggieDave 6 #4 March 2, 2003 Have you checked the online help for the manufacture? Maybe there is a firmware upgrade needed or something.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
PhreeZone 20 #5 March 2, 2003 What software? Try Nero, that usually fixed my EZ CD creator issues.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
phatcat 0 #6 March 2, 2003 Just downloaded the newest Nero update this morning - no change. I think it's gonna end up shotgun fodder.
phatcat 0 #7 March 2, 2003 QuoteMaybe there is a firmware upgrade needed or something. I saw that on the tech support forum, but I'm unfamiliar with it (don't know what "firmware" is.) I DL'ed a tool that told me the firmware ver. for the burner is "3.BX", but I don't have the first clue what that means.

SlipStream 0 #13 March 2, 2003 Firmware, is the actualy (software, coded onto the "hardware" of the CD-burner itself, it has nothing to do with the computer itself but it would be an upgrade to the cdrw drive itself. Sometimes it is a physical chip, but other times is just a small software upgrade that is given to teh cdrw drive, but ive never done that to a cdrw drive, only motherboards and mp3 players and stuff like that. Whats teh model # of your drive, and manufactuer... Ill try to help best i can :o) -Steve-Stevie "I don't fear the man who wants 10 nuclear weapons, I'm terrified of the man who only wants one..."
