The music of ABBA

Recommended Posts

I do not know why, but I have suddenly become enamoured of the music of ABBA again. It must be my 70's childhood, the "becoming aware" of girls and all those other pleasant memories that are doing it.

I remember the first girl I ever kissed, at one of my Dad's office parties. "Super Trouper" was playing somewhere in the background. The memories...

So, anyone else here like ABBA? Don't be shy to admit it ;). You're not alone!

Good God man -- Get yourself to a doctor or a dropzone QUICKLY!! :D:D:ph34r::ph34r:
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

I can't think of ABBA without remembering "Your'e the one that I want." They had their own sound, and it reminds me of driving along. I was young, independent, and skydiving then -- what could be better?

Ah, but I still AM! I was just getting started then. And I didn't have a house payment...

I completely forgot about abba for about 30 years. A few years back I was in the airport in Belfast and I saw an abba CD and bought it on a whim. It brought back a lot of memories; my sisters had most of their albums when I was young (13 or so.)

Got to be Dancing Queen. I drove many a mile on the strip listening to that song over and over and over. Wish I had something to play my vinyl stuff on now. [:/]

Life really was simpler then. Oh, and I loved M*A*S*H.

Sad thing is one of my kids just was in here singing so I listened to the worlds. "Got an S on my chest, now I wear a bullet proof vest" then something about a sub-machine gun. Yes, life has changed.

Anyone here seen the movie "Muriel's Wedding"? Great little Australian movie...Toni Collete's first real role.

If you've never seen it and you like ABBA....go rent it now!

That movie had one of my favorite quotes in it. The girls were discussing what a good time that they had at a bachelorette party and how it was so exciting and different. One of them said "This is how I live my life every weekend". That always stuck with me.

I think there's a play running on Broadway now that is entirely about ABBA and has all their music in it. I've heard it's actually pretty good.
