Zenister 0 #1 February 22, 2003 looks like the french 4-way team from the preview.. edit..nope its the 8 way, and it appears they took a dude out on his first (or very very early) jump to do 9 way RW... a qoute "nickolas finds the air resistance so strong he can scarcely control his movements and must rely on his teammates...." and they literally flew him everywhere and pulled for him too.. damn i want my own private 130...____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. sdctlc 0 #3 February 22, 2003 I believe that is an adventure show called "Uhuosha" or something really stupid like that. I think it has an "adventure" guy named Nicholas. I have seen it a few times and decided it was truly un-informed the day they said Skydivers don't need to breath on a jump because they can absorb all the O2 they need in freefall. As a side note they mentioned that skydivers don't jump through clouds for fear of drowning. That is spot on reporting... I know that I have the shows name wrong but it is something like what I noted. Scott C."He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
pilotdave 0 #4 February 22, 2003 Yep, thats a neat way to do AFF. That video is available at skydivingmoies.com in /from tv/cnbc - ushuaia skydiving.mpg for anyone with patience. I attached a couple screen captures. This guy's (apparently) first jump is with the 8 way team, and then he goes on to do CRW, in a 17 way diamond (or whatever you crazy people call it) over paris, landing by the eiffel tower. Cool show! Dave
pilotdave 0 #5 February 22, 2003 Yeah that is Ushuaia, but the comment about not needing to breathe came from another show... Either a different episode or a different show, cant remember. Dave
sdctlc 0 #6 February 23, 2003 I am pretty sure it was that show but maybe another episode. It was a few years ago. I am not 100% sure where it was said (i.e. on the presently talked about show) but I am 150% sue that I heard it. I heard it and just sat there with a look on my face of "did he just say what I think he did????!?!" It is hard to forget something like that..... Scott C."He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" I call bullshit. I can believe an 8-way for a first jump. But bigway CReW (it's a kite, by the way) into a major city? No way.
JJohnson 0 #8 February 23, 2003 Can you believe that the myth about absorbing O2 through the skin is actually on a trivial pursuit card??? A buddy called me up one night, from a party to tell me he blew the question (which I forget) and said the card used that BS as the right answer....JJ "Call me Darth Balls"
PhreeZone 20 #9 February 23, 2003 They show good footage of hm flying around over Paris. I think he's got like 25 jumps or so when he does the kite. So yes, they could have done BETTER research, but it IS documents in places that we (skydivers) control, so we have to assume some of the blame. Landing without injury is not necessarily evidence that you didn't fuck up... it just means you got away with it this time
