a horrible day for my pet

Recommended Posts

:(I awoke this morning to find my cat, "Kitty", laying in the crook of my knee, where he normally sleeps. As I reached down to pet him when I got up, I felt something very strange. I sat bolt upright and saw a very horrible sight. My cat was literally torn wide open. I knew he had either been mauled or hit by a car; the latter ended up being the case. It was VERY, VERY ugly. I don't want to get any more graphic than that, but let me just say that I was amazed that this cat had managed to get from wherever he was, back over to the RV, then up and into the "cat port" and then onto the bed. His left rear femur was compound fractured and he was layed wide open. I went into a state of extreme anguish and decided then and there that since this friend had decided to come all the way back for my help instead of just finding a bush to crawl under and die, I had to do whatever it took to save him. I really didn't think it was possible, but I picked him up as easily as I could and wrapped him in a blanket. Through all this, he barely made a peep; not complaining at all. I raced to the vet as fast as Bessie would take me and brought him in. After initial examination, the vet gave me some hope that he would make it. He was amazed that the cat had made it back home. He has now successfuly made it through one major operation to debride and repair internal damage. Tomorrow they will attempt to pin his femur and try and sew him all up. Last check this afternoon saw him resting in a cage, IV drip going, and a catheter in.

I have an incredibly close bond with this cat. I have had both he and my dog, Billy Bob, since they were just weaned. Billy Bob is great, but the cat is my favorite pet of all time. He was taken one time and was lost for six months. I, amazingly, found him and since then he has always been right with me. Pet losses and injuries are terrible. I was bawling this morning; believe that. Anyway, I would just ask that you keep Mister Kitty in your thoughts. He showed incredible devotion and for that I will pay whatever the cost to get him back on his feet.

Chuck:(

Aww Chuckie, I feel for you. There's nothing worse than when one of your best buddies is hurt. :( Good to hear the vet thinks he's going to make it. It'll be worth every penny to have him back with you.

Hang in there and please let me know if there's anything I can do to help (like hunt down and take out whoever hit him!!>:().

Absolutely, Chuck, you can count on good vibes going to both of you from all of us, i.e. me, Lynn and our kitty, Bugs.

And anyone who thinks men can't get attached to cats will have to take on me and Chuck!>:(

Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money.

Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

Chuck, Kitty and Billy Bob are so loyal to you. They are the loyalist animals I have ever seen to their master. You knew he would do whatever it took to get back to you. He will be alright. I miss Billy Bob and Kitty.[:/]

Chuck, sometimes your pets are the best friends you have, as I'm sure you full well know. They listen to our troubles, comfort us when the world is against us, are almost always happy to see us (unless they are getting in trouble) and they ask nothing in return. I truly hope everything goes well for you and your cat. I understand the emotional investment we put into our relationships with our pets. If Kitty showed the determination to make it all the way back to you, he has the spirit to recover!

You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

I never got to meet Kitty while I was there, he must have been out cattin' around. But you talked about him enough for me to know how special he is to you. I hope he heals very quickly so he can come back to his place by your side. :)

:( Poor little darlin' and he made it all the way home to you. That's dedication!!!
Hope all goes well with your furry little pal.
One of my mates pup got mauled by dingoes last week. He heard this news just days after his grandfather passed away. I hate times like these, you can only send your love...so here's mine

Chuck:

this speaks volumes about your spirit as a human being, i admire that. my best wishes to "Mister Kitty" and yourself. it takes caring people to love animals to that degree, we have loads of pets ourselves and we love them all!

chuck,

I'm so sorry to hear about Mr. Kitty being hurt, but from what you say the vet thinks he'll be fine thankfully. Give him a big hug and kiss from me and tell him I'll bring a treat for him next week.
