a horrible day for my pet

Recommended Posts

Glad to hear your cat's doing better. My cat used to go outside sometimes, but I finally took the advice of my vet & now he's just an indoor cat. My vet had one patient who's human let him outside all the time. The cat killed & ate part of a rabbit & developed tularemia. The owner had to pay about a thousand $ to save that cat's life. There's no question you will shell out the money to save your furry buddy's life, but the whole outdoor thing for cats should be one to seriously reconsider. Yeah the cat will complain for a while, but he'll get used to it eventually.

The people who owned my cat before me let him outside all the time and he always wants to go out. So I made him a deal, I put up garden fencing around my patio railing so he can't get off it, and he is allowed to go out when ever he wants. :)
So is Mr. Kitty getting to wear one of those cone head things? Mem lasted all of a day before he sat in the middle of the living room Yeowling when he had to wear one.

I hope YOU survive the ordeal, too :)
Glad he's home; it sounds like it was really ugly, but if he's ornery right now, that's good.

One of my dogs ate a bottle of ibuprofen once (cotton, box, and all). That was about $1200. But she was OK. Sometimes it's good to be employed, isn't it.

This ordeal, so far, has cost me 15 cents less than fifteen hundred bucks.

Ha! I'm so happy that Mr. Kitty is OK. The above made me laugh. When I brought home my last parrot ($300) my other parrot put the smack down on him to the tune of $600ish. I wonder if anyone will buy him for $900. Not that I'd sell. :)

That's fantastic Chuck! I'm very happy to hear they were able to do so much for Kitty. I'm sure he's grateful and will get over being pissed at you over the confinement :) He obviously adores you that he went through so much to get to you when he was hurt.
*hugs*

Glad your cat's okay. My daughter has a cat that she raised from a kitten. Anyhow her cat has been gone all this week. We didn't have a clue what happened to it. Then today I found it walking across our school playground. The thing is that the school, I work at, is about 35 miles away from where we live. All I can figure is that last week, it must have hitched a ride somehow on my car all that way. My wife once drove several blocks at high speed with the cat on top of her car. I doubt if it could have gone that far though on top. It's been cold lately, and it must have climbed up in near the motor looking for warmth. There isn't much room under there though.

There are about a million dogs in this town (where I work) also, and you just don't see cats out walking around, because they are eaten by dogs. So somehow our cat survived a 35 mile ride on the outside of a car, then a week in dogville. At any rate he's now safe and sound and back to his old tricks, like killing most of the local song bird population, and shedding fur all over the house. My wife was secretly hoping that he had gotten a hairball and disappeared that way.

That leads me right into another cat story. (I have a million of em). At any rate last summer, this same cat, disappeared for a couple days. He was hanging out at our neighbor's house. Our neighbor is a nice guy and recongized the cat as being my daughter's. So the guy picks up the cat and gives him a big hug. About then our cat latches onto his nose. So anyhow my wife answers the door, and here's this big grumpy looking guy with blood dripping off his nose. Luckily he didn't decide to sue us. It had been a couple years since our cat had had a rabbies shot, and we weren't so sure that he didn't have it, (since most skunks in our area are supposedly rabid).

And then there are the times when our cat will suddenly come running out of the bushes and grab onto my wifes bare legs, just for fun. Of course my wife cuts loose with this blood curdling scream, that echoes clear across town, every time this happens. I don't know what the deal is with this old tom cat. He just never was the same after we got him de-neutered. I guess I don't blame him. That's about all we have to do for fun, here in Montana in the winter, is to tell cat stories. In the summer we poor up a big batch of concrete and all sit around and watch it harden up. Other times we all go down to the local stop light and wait for it to change...... Steve1

Dear God, Chuck. I am sending serious prayers upwards regarding Kitty.

I am constantly amazed by the animal kingdom. That is one serious bond on Kittys part. Damn. How the hell Kitty made it back to the safe place behind your knee is beyond me. And then waited till you woke up.

I have made a couple of Vet runs myself and then barely choke out the words to the Vet as to what the problem is.

Skeet, Flea and Olav Zipster got out 2 days ago thru the fence. I lost my mind. After they got in the car I cried and howled the whole way home (2 blocks) and then for hours. I finally had to take a damn pill.

I have plans in place if Skeet gets hurt. He weighs around 160+. But I think I would have the adrenalin to lift him in that situation. I am very careful about him running on hard surfaces. I dont allow it. His hip, if replaced, would be a titanium human hip.

Man...

I am not afraid to say this, but its hard to type with the tears in my eyes. The first post literally brought tears to my eyes, and an utterly sick feeling. So bad I had to go over and hug my cat. Of course he didnt appreciate it very much since he was asleep, but I felt a little better.

Glad to hear he is going to be ok. It may seem like alot of $$, but a small price to pay for such a dear freind.

Blue ones!
