Beachbum 0 #1 February 9, 2003 Marine Corps General Reinwald was interviewed on the radio the other day by a female interviewer concerning guns and children. Regardless of how you feel about gun control this is one of the best comeback lines of all time. It is a portion of a National Public Radio (NPR) interview between the female broadcaster and US Marine Corps General Reinwald as he was preparing to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military installation. FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base? GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting. FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it? GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range. FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children? GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm. FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become violent killers. GENERAL REINWALD: Well, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you? The radio went silent and the interview ended. As long as you are happy with yourself ... who cares what the rest of the world thinks?
hookitt 1 #2 February 9, 2003 That's not funny... Ok I laughed. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
IronMike 0 #3 February 9, 2003 This, while funny and right-on, is an old joke and never really happened. Some "General" or NRA person has this same interview every year. Mike Glock 9mm in glovebox
Beachbum 0 #4 February 9, 2003 dangit!! ... and I was SOOO sure it was true ... ROFL!! Very few of these types of stories ARE true ... but that doesn't make them any less humorous to me!
dave610 0 #5 February 9, 2003 I love it when ingnorant people that think teaching gun safety, proper gun handleing and respect is wrong get put in their place.
wmw999 2,444 #6 February 9, 2003 There's an old joke about feminists that seems to apply here with a little updating: "How many responsible gun enthusiasts does it take to change a light bulb?" One. And that's not funny! Wendy W. There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence.
