Who is your Hero?

Recommended Posts

Everyone has someone special that touches their life that they admirer or respect. It may be someone close or it could be a total stranger. Who is your hero? your role model, that you wish/strive to be more like in your own life?

My hero will always be my grandfather. He was a hard working business man all of his life and never let his family need or want for anything. He possessed the biggest, most loving and compassionate heart of anyone I've ever seen. You could never leave a visit with him without knowing exactly how much he loved you. His integrity was a beacon of light for all. He stood fast for his beliefs even if it meant standing alone. He is one of the only men I have and will ever trust completely with anything because he was true, just, honest and faithful no matter what the cost.If I can live my life in knowing I have been a fraction of the person he was I will count myself blessed. If I can go through my life applying the lessons he taught me and sharing the love he gave to me,then I can hold my head high and proud. There are never enough words to describe my thoughts and feelings for him.Even though he was no celebrity and wasnt well known outside of our small town, there will always be a burning pride in my heart and soul for having known and loved him.

My grandfather suffered a massive and fatal heart attack on Feb. 6, 2001. He has been gone two years ago today though he is never far from my memory. My grandfather, my Hero, I will always love you.

Migh h.s. baskeball coach. I knew him way before he was my coach, and I still keep in touch with him. He inspires me everyday simply because he's a hard worker and and he's the most honest person I know and he's the nicest person I know, even to people who maybe don't deserve it. I wish I had it in me to be more like him. Also, my uncle, for seemingly opposite reasons. He's like a kid that forgot to grow up but he still takes care of whatever he has too. He also doesn't brook any shit off people who want to do noghting but give shit.

My Late Grandfather Major Andy Anderson USMC (Poppy), a veteran of WWII and Korea he recieved both the Silver and Bronze Star. If you want me to break down and cry play Amazing Grace on the bag pipes, that was his favorite song.

His Late wife Dorris Anderson (Nanna), one of the toughest women i ever knew!!! Not suprising b/c she was a redhead! But also one of the coolest. I still remember drinking rootbeer floats on her pool deck in the heat of summer after swimming in that kidney shaped pool. I wonder if my B-24 model is still hanging from the porch. To this day if i smell Whiteshoulders i think of her.

My Late Grandfather Arthur Kattlemenn. Worked full time has a master Plasterer and mason until he was 72!!! He built the house he and his wife lived in, the house my mom grew up in, and the house that i am now living in. Even at the age of 92 he would be shuffling around the house doing things and tinkering with stuff. One of the most important people in my life, and THE most hardheaded SOB i have ever met!!! I can remember him sitting in the garage telling me stories of him and my mom albacore fishing. HONK HONK!!! thats what he said after letting loose a masive amount of gas one day in the bathroom when he was 98!:D:D:D:D:D

My Grandma Helen Kattlemenn, she is 92 and still kicking like a champion soccer player!! Even at her age she still has long hair down to her butt, and it still has some red color left in it!!!! She is the person i plan my life around now.
My mom Joan, that woman is a true Miracle!! She could make a cop cry, or get the HMO to pay for another month of good meds for grandma. Without her i would have gone insane a long time ago!

Everything that i have become is a result of what i have learned from these people. There is a no way for me to thank them enough or repay them.

oh ya don't let Boys to Men Hard to say Goodbye to Yesterday get onto your playlist while writing this kind of thing unless you have a box of tussues nearby!

If I were to pick two skydivers that I really respect, it would be Dan Brodskey Chenfeld and Harry O'connor. I've never met either one, but have tremendous respect for both.

I also tell my oldest daughter that she's my hero. She was valedictorian of her senior class (42 kids), and doesn't give up when things get tough. She's also a sky diver. (One tandem so far). Steve1

Luckily I didn't have to go outside my family for heros.

At the top my Father John Garrison Sr. Born in SC 1940 confounding all attempts to keep him in his place. He decided to persue academics instead of shop although he was told that his apttitude lay in shop even though he was doing advanced math at the time. Graduated from Brown 1959(member first black class to graduate from Brown. Phd in math from Case. Borderline genius beat people who are masters now in chess. Gave me my love for flight (my sister in law asked where "that" came from watching videos of me and both my bros and my mom in unison replied "his father". Was on dialisys (sp) for 16 years and never bitched and when I mentioned how much it sucked he told me it was better then being dead.........ahhhhh now I'm feeling it can't talk anymore

WOW! This would have to be the best thread I've seen in a while in Talkback.
People have just been posting anything and everything ( Including myself here, before anyone decides to throw tomatoes at me!)

My hero is my best friend. I've known her since I was four, and I've always admired her ways.
She's my mentor and my soul mate.
I'll always be there, as her shadow, watching her grow.
She's always had her head strong and always known exactly what she wanted, where as me, on the other hand, is just a lost puppy, I always change my mind, my hair colour and my taste in men, blah blah blah.

But what I love most about her is that she knows me inside and out. She knows all the terrible things I've done in my life, yet she still adores me, just the same.:) What a gem!

Don't bother me, I'm living happily ever after

My hero is my father. He is a very strong person who showed me working hard will get you what you want. He also showed me that you can have fun while working towards your goal in life! He is also very tender when you need him to be. I couldn't ask for a better father!
