aeroflyer 0 #1 September 17, 2012 So, the rigger said my lines would last longer if my Pilot had come with coated spectra. Does aerodyne do this? I didn't see that option when I bought it.
riggerrob 643 #2 September 17, 2012 Most modern Spectra suspension lines have some sort of latex coating. The only uncoated Spectra - that I can think of - is on reserves (Swift Plus and Performance Designs).

forteenerdaddy 0 #6 September 17, 2012 Aerodyne claims that Pilot line sets *are* coated spectra. I love my Pilot, but the lines do not wear nearly as well as the coated spectra lines on my PD Spectre.

If they are coated ( which I doubt) it would be so slight that it is not noticable even when looking at them very hard. You are right about the CSR coated line that PD, Icarus and a few others use....it lasts much longer than the other type. Since MEL deals with a lot of canopy line sets, I assume that's an opinion based on a lot of actual experience! I was really surprised at how soft those lines are that Aerodyne uses -- just seems like they'll get snagged easier and fuzz up so much quicker. forteenerdaddy 0 #9 September 19, 2012 Thanks for the feedback! I hope Aerodyne cleans this up. My perfect canopy would be made of ZPX with a PD line set. The lines would be replaced ~800-1000 jumps, but what limits the life of a ZPX canopy? A good topic for another Forum discussion?!!
