Rookeskydiver 0 #56 January 17, 2003 Yeah the Focke Wolf 190 was a badass plane. Do you think it could out maneuver a mustang or a spitfire? PCSS # 1 Rookeskydiver "Its a Wonka Bar"....."Go ahead Charlie open it, lets see that golden ticket"
riggerrob 643 #57 January 17, 2003 After the Brits crashed their last Mosquito, there is only on eairworthy Mossie left on the planet. The sole airworthy Mossie is owned by Kermit Weeks who keeps it at his museum in Florida. A rare Mossie is far too valuable to fly so Kermit probably just polishes it. After I win the lottery, I am going to buy a Grand Caravan for my friends and spend my evenings building a half-scale Mossie out of fiberglass.

miked10270 0 #59 January 17, 2003 Err Rob... Quote spend my evenings building a half-scale Mossie out of fiberglass. Or you could always build a full-size one, maybe even out of wood!. Seriously, the DH100 was designed to be built using "semi-skilled" labour, like carpenters & furniture makers(!), using only basic hand tools. Admittedly some of the original materials used in the airframe construction , particularly the hardwoods, are in short supply and prohibitively expensive... But at the end of the day the only thing stopping a Mosquito being built from new is MONEY. The actual aircraft was designed for ease of manufacture from materials in plentiful supply at the time. Can anyone back this up???? The Confederate Air Force is a very anal bunch and I cant see them allowing this...If they did, I am jealous beyond words. flyhi 24 #62 January 18, 2003 I voted for the C-130, which is actually the baby sister of what I would want; the C-5B Galaxy. With a 270 kip payload and a 13-foot high cargo bay, I figure you could have a real nice game of basketball on the climb to altitude, then launch a 350-way world record with a 20-way base chunk. Oh btw, now that I have posted on this thread, prepare for it to slip into ignominy as I am willing to bet I have one of the highest last-post percentages on the site. It's just a gift.Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
LouDiamond 1 #63 January 18, 2003 My only complaint about jumping out of a C-5 is the strange feeling I get that the plane is going to fall out of the sky when it slows down for jump run. If you've ever seen one take off or land you know what I mean. They make a lot of noise but they appear to litterally hang in the sky and move impossibly slow for something that large that is flying. Other than that it is ALL good. LouDiamond 1 #65 January 18, 2003 Pretty much the same size/type of plane, so yeah I know what you mean I always look for somewhere to run cause I just KNOW that damn thing is going to fall out of the sky. nacmacfeegle 0 #66 January 20, 2003 Hey Lou, I tink yuoare confusing your airyplanes here! "Pretty much the same size/type of plane, so yeah I know what you mean" THis ain't no C-5! "I always look for somewhere to run cause I just KNOW that damn thing is going to fall out of the sky." Probably a good idea anyways....See attached, this slow climbing biplane, seems to get airborne at about 20 mph.... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. IronMike 0 #68 January 20, 2003 Anyone ever been on the beach in St. Maarten to see this? I want to plan a trip just to go lay on the beach and watch.
