Guest #28 January 17, 2003 QuoteIn a bank robbery, does the driver of the getaway car just get a ticket for speeding? Using a firearm to commit a crime of any kind should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. In a bank robbery, the apprehended getaway car driver is charged as an accomplice to a felony (or aiding and abetting). The car has nothing to do with it (although to a shyster lawyer, the auto maker and the dealer who sold it are both liable). Likewise, the sale of firearms is not in and of itself unlawful, provided that ATF regulations are observed. Unfortunately, the CFR is huge, and the ATF's share of that is substantial. The gun shop can't find a 4473 showing the weapon had been sold. This could be because it was stolen from the shop. Failure to promptly report a stolen/missing firearm can result in something like this. Failing to maintain inventory and accountability in accordance with BATF regs (transaction records) is an offense. That duty is something a FFL dealer takes on when he is issued a license. However, the Bullseye employees didn't pull the trigger. They aren't responsible for what happened in DC. Malvo is. Trouble is, he doesn't have deep pockets. But the fucking lawyers don't care. They can just file a frivolous suit against the maker of the weapon, and the people who last had lawful custody of it, with the assistance of that hypocritical Sarah Brady and her cabal. I recently sold a firearm to a gun dealer. Although it was not necessary under BATF regs, I nonetheless obtained a Bill of Sale, which the purchaser signed. That way, my ass is covered, but it troubles me to think that if some punk gets that weapon and misuses it, some shyster lawyer would come after me. Should I punished for the sins of others? This application of "collective" punishment must surely fit nicely with what gun-grabbers perceive as a "collective" right - the 2nd Amendment."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
