How many Canadians out there?

Recommended Posts

Yup! We have winter jumping at SWOOP although the weather has been against us so far. Pretty much cloudy weekends since November.

Maybe we should get together and do a Canadian DZ.Com record. We'd only have to do a four way.

Just out of interest what kind of weather do u guys get in Vancouver. Like in January/February time what temperature (celsius) does it get to at altitude?
Is skydive Vancouver somewhere that you can comfortably jump all year round or do u hang your rigs up for a couple of months.
May be making a visit to Vancouver around April time and might try to get a jump in while I'm there.

P.S. I'm from the UK if it makes a difference.

Hello-
Today is sunny....6 degrees. At skydive Vancouver C-206, C-182 flys on weekends, our porter is tucked away in hangar and usually is flying by April.....just give d.z. an e-mail or phone to check on weather. There is 3 d.z.'s here....Pitt Meadows d.z. is closest to Vancouver, then 1/2 hr. drive to my home d.z. in Abbotsford (skydive Vancouver) and 1/2 hr. drive away is Chilliwack d.z.

Smiles;)

Eh! Ottawa here as well...

There are some DZs crazy enough to advertize that they're open during our winter months - but it makes no sense to me.

There's really only one smart way to skydive during an Ottawa winter, and I've already bought my ticket - will be in Florida for another visit starting next week... eh! ;)

Cheers,
CanEHdian

Time's flying, and so am I...

Well I still need a few jumps before I Get my RW and A Licence.....Did one 2way so far and it rocked!!!!

BANDIT!!!
j/k ;)

Kizzie,
Yup, you're pretty close to Cambridge! I live in Markham, just north of the T dot. I have a friend in Cambridge who did his first jump last summer and wants to go hardcore this coming season... Perhaps I'll go with him to Swoop instead of STI... What's it like?

Actually, STI doesn't jump now. I might go up there with Peter to get my rig inspected if it ever gets here.

Skydiving is easy. All you have to do is relax while plummetting at 120 mph from 10,000' with nothing but some nylon and webbing to save you.

Actually, I was at base Borden. I was ground crew. The visibility at altitude was 500 feet. They didn't jump;)

Me and Peter the rigger got to be the elves and Kyla (you probably haven't seen her yet, she's new) was Santa. Kyla is female, very very female. And I'm jewish. All in all, we did a good jobB|

I'm taking it to Peter. He's known as Crazy Peter. I believe he rigs most of the student rigs there. Tall, thin, jumps every kind of chute imaginable, does every stunt on it you can think of. Examples: stalling a 292 Manta at 500 feet, or 360ing same Manta into landing. He went to bridge day last year. Gives me the creeps.:)
EDITED TO ADD: I want to jump in this cold. Ai am Rushian, vat kold?

Tampa weather forecast --

Jan 14 Mostly Clear 43° 0 % rain
Wed
Jan 15 Mostly Sunny 66°/45° 0 % rain
Thu
Jan 16 Partly Cloudy 70°/51° 0 % rain

Hey....sunny here in Jan. is awesome! ceiling unlimited 10 degrees this afternoon.:P
You just cannot compare to Tampa (would luv to be there)...Vancouver B.C. is mild temp. compared to the rest of Canada this time of the year.

I jump a blue and silver Wings container (pic is floating around here) and a Spectre 150 (colours Purple, Jade, grey, grey, grey, Jade, Purple) You may have seen it... though I have not been around for some time. :(

Yes, Vancouver is great, only beat by....

Victoria :P

Of course, you have the advantage with 3 drop zones within driving distance whereas we only have one. Nevertheless, we do get more hours of sunshine per year.

The view from altitude is great as we're on an island.

And yes, our drop zone is open all year long (weekends only in the winter) but it gets pretty cold at altitude. Last time I was up -12 celcius. However, I would like to ask, WHY IS ALL THE SUN DURING THE WEEK? The weekend comes and it's cloudy and windy. Arg.

I got it used, all from dz.com. My main has already arrived, it's a 160sqft Triathlon. The container is going to be a Javelin J2, DOM93 with a Swift Plus reserve, DOM93, 175 sqft. No AAD yet, but I'll get a CYPRES as soon as I can afford it. $1450 USD in total.

I just looked at your photograph and I definitely remember seeing you in the summer. I was still on the newbie stage (even more than I am today that is), but I definitely remember your face. We should jump together in the summer, when I finally complete the progression.

Also, how is that Spectre working out for you? I've considered getting one but the Tri I found was much cheaper.
