Never-exceed speed (VNE) 197 kt (365 km/h; 227 mph)
Max level and max cruising speed: 143 kt (265 km/h; 165 mph)

With them slicked up, they would go faster than 143, but they almost always fly with dummy Hellfires and empty rocket pods on. Sometimes with a fuel tank, too. All that really slows them down. How well the M/R system is balance and tracked make s a big difference too. On one test flight, I had to hold the door shut, we were getting a viscious shimmy at about 130 kts. On another test flight, we were cruising right along at 160 kts, smooth, slick. I learned early on that spending the time to get the M/R and T/R systems tacked and balanced perfect saved a bunch of maintenence time later on. Less vibration, things didn't break as quickly.

Dry-firing the 30 mm chain gun sounded as if it was firing for real, great for scaring the hell out of anyone that happened to be walking down the lfight line at the time. Swing it over, hit the trigger, and watch them hit the dirt B|
