airann 1 #28 January 14, 2003 Listen here, I can not imagine you being scared to tell your loved one about a vacume cleaner.... You had to do that crazy 'modified AFF' program thing and you werent scared. Or at least when I talked to you - you were not. Hell all you did was stare out at the landing area for hours studying all the grass blowing around. Then tandem after tandem after tandem. What did you do like 12 of them? Then what, they had to get you a midget rig or tie you to a rig or something. Lookit Chickie- A vacume cleaner discussion with your loving husband -who should have hired me-, is not a big problem. Remember that a parachute that doesnt open is a big problem. Perspective, you know. You must have an honest relationship with this man. Tell him what happened. You had your tool box out working on the vacume cleaner for hours and finally had to get another one to help with hopefully HIS cats hair. LOL You are the Keeper of the Homestead. You gotta have the right tools. And besides - you did not do it on purpose, you wanted the home to be lovely when he came home so the emergency vacume was warrented. You are remorseful, sorry, appologetic and rehabilatated now. You might want to give him his credit card back as a token of good faith. ~AirAnn~
happythoughts 0 #29 January 14, 2003 Gonna go with Airann on this one. Major on the major stuff, minor on the minor. Vacuum cleaners are little stuff. My son rolled my Saturn completely over and back onto the wheels. Turned a $5000 car into a $150 car in 2 minutes. I was upset and concerned at the same time. Household appliances are tiny things. Tell him. An appropriate reaction from him would be small.

freebird 0 #31 January 14, 2003 Then what, they had to get you a midget rig or tie you to a rig or something. *** I jumped a 170 Sabre with a C-18 size Javelin container I believe and they tied my leg straps with a pull up cord.
freebird 0 #32 January 14, 2003 What did you do like 12 of them? *** I did two AFPs after the three required tandems. I thought I did not do so great on my second AFP and I was not sure about anything. I knew I loved jumping. I did 10 tandems before I went back and finished the student program. ( not something I boast about much) Many of the tandems were because of the high wind. They would not let me go up( fear I would back up) (which I did one time). I wanted to jump so I was ok to do a tandem on days like that. Some were because I was not ready in my mind to jump alone or with my own gear.
happythoughts 0 #33 January 14, 2003 Quote Quote An appropriate reaction from him would be small. we will see When stuff happens, you must let most of it go or you don't have a relationship very long. There are too many things going on to get excited about all of them. People make mistakes, others should get over it. A $100 is a lot if you don't have it, but it is just like anything else. What if you broke a $100 vase? Or had a flat tire? Just something that happened. Most people have a fear that the person will not understand. What are the possible results? 1- They are not pleased, but ok with it. 2- They are unreasonable. If they were ok, then you worried needlessly. A prisoner of a fictitious fear. (Don't let fear run your life.) You also got a good handle of what is a big/little problem for this person and a good measure of the coping skills in the relationship. If they are jerks, then you can consider how many more times in your life that you want to deal with them. Cut your losses now and split, or suffer in mental jail for 10 years until it gets to be too much. Deal with all your problems honestly. Always tell the truth and discuss it. This is the way that you can establish a framework for resolving problems. This won't be the last problem, you need to know how the two of you will deal with them when big stuff comes along. skycat 0 #40 January 15, 2003 QuoteMany of the tandems were because of the high wind. They would not let me go up( fear I would back up) Tiff sweety ignore Ann on this. Most people have no idea how scary it is under canopy when you are underloading it to such a degree. I backed up on all but 1 of my jumps on a student canopy and it is really scary. I also know what it is like sitting on the ground cause you are jumping a 150 and back up in anything over 15, so while everyone else is jumping (includeding students) you are on a wind hold. Ann you don't like it when Richard says stuff like that to you please don't do the same thing. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.Fly it like you stole it! airann 1 #41 January 15, 2003 Kelly- Misunderstanding -I was pointing out how strong she is. I have never seen any one want to skydive more than she did. I often stood right beside her as we looked at the landing area. As you know it took me over 100 or 200 jumps to land my canopy. I was the joke of the dropzone. But I was happy to give everyone something to laugh about. I think you remember all that. I jumped in winds and backed up all the time. Back then I was pretty thin. So, I really know how she feels. Backing up and planning a forward land is pretty scary. But she came out time after time after time when SO many would have given up. Some days she would jump and some days she wouldnt. She would wait all day long just to go up. Sorry for your interpretation, but I support persons who just have a will to keep on going in skydiving or any other area. ~AirAnn~
