Push 0 #4 January 10, 2003 Does it need a reason? It's related to the sport. It keeps your container closed and is an integral part of safe deployment. Plus, if you jump with a ripcord it means a lot (though it's not curved, but that's another story). Noone except a skydiver would really know what that is. -- Toggle Whippin' Yahoo Skydiving is easy. freekflyguy 0 #6 January 10, 2003 "It's related to the sport." So are T shirts "It keeps your container closed and is an integral part of safe deployment." True, so is a closure loop, is that the next fashion accesorie for jumpers? "Plus, if you jump with a ripcord it means a lot" Having to let go of the pilot chute meant more to me when i got off ripcord. "(though it's not curved, but that's another story)" You can buy curved ones "Noone except a skydiver would really know what that is." Which is exactly my point. Jumper swill not ask "What's that round your neck", they already know. So does that mean that people wear them so non skydivers will ask "What's that" thus giving you the oportunity to tell them you are a "Skydive" I dont see rock climbers wearing caribeners round their necks, or golfers wearing tees. bobsled92 0 #9 January 10, 2003 It's really the only thing you can wear as a piece of jewlery daily that is in fact a functional piece of rig equipment. It does make a nice sign to other jumpers WITHOUT having EVERYONE you me start to ask you all about jumping. The T-shirt is the public "Ask me about jumping" sign. My pilot chute does make an interesting Ascot, though I'd only wear that to Church3ring as a belt buckle an option but, not a piece of jewelry. I don't wear that myself. My necklace has 2 pendants: a 2 Man Bobsled & A "Lion Rampant". and my dog tag on it's own chain, none of which are shown out to the public. One is for me/who I am and the other is if I'm in trouble.-Grant _______________________________ If I could be a Super Hero, I chose to be: "GRANT-A-CLAUS". and work 365 days a Year. http://www.hangout.no/speednews/

DYEVOUT 0 #20 January 10, 2003 I'm a rookie, so my opinion may not mean much - but they look cool, and sort of clue other divers in to your interest. I couldn't find one I wanted from any of the common vendors, so I ordered some pins from the illustrious Skybytch today, and shall make my own necklace, tietack, and whatever the f**k else I want. ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court." skybytch 273 #23 January 10, 2003 QuoteWHY??????? Um... because we want to? Personally I think guys wearing flashy gold chains around their neck or huge rings on their fingers look ridiculous, but I don't go telling them that. If you like the look or idea of a closing pin necklace, wear one. If you don't like it, don't wear one. Simple.
