steve1 5 #13 January 2, 2003 I spend most of the day in an office (working as a school counselor). Sometimes it get's old and I get to thinking about how nice it might be to have another job. But then I get to thinking about what it was like when I was a timber faller. Often times in the winter, you were up to your waist in snow and people were getting killed and crippled on a regular basis. And the money wasn't that great either. It took me ten years to get out of the woods. So on days like that, when I'm feeling a little down, I take a break. I pour myself another cup of coffee, in my nice warm office, click on Drop Zone . Com, and I feel wonderful. Steve1
freeflir29 0 #14 January 2, 2003 Quote Sometimes it get's old and I get to thinking about how nice it might be to have another job. Then you remember that you live in Montana. The most beautiful state in the country. The drawback....if you have a job that allows you to own a home and eat....you're above average....

freeflir29 0 #17 January 2, 2003 Quote Wouldn't this also apply to those who live in Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, need I go on Yeah...but you just have to understand Montana. If you land a high tech job that makes $12 an hour you are one RICH man!!! That's why most people I know out there have at least 2 if not 3 or more jobs. Not an easy place to make a living. That's why I have a house there yet "live" in Georgia....well...and the fact that it gets REALLY cold there for too many months of the year. Kinda interferes with skydiving. steve1 5 #18 January 2, 2003 Clay, You've got a good point. I read in the paper yesterday that Montana has the lowest salaries in the Nation. Politicians here are always trying to dream up ways to improve that. I know the reason most of us have stayed here, or choose to live here, is because we appreciate the outdoors and all the recreational opportunities that go along with it. Can you imagine how crowded this state would be if there were also great job opportunities. I mean it's hard to have your cake and eat it too. I really appreciate the beauty that Montana has to offer, but it's changing quickly, especially western Montana. I'd like to move to Alaska someday, but now that I'm back into jumping I'm thinking Arizona in the winter and Montana in the summer. Now all I have to do is swing it financially. I retire in about five years, but am not really set money wise. I could sell my house and land in Western Montana for a mint, but I'd like to save most of that for my daughters. If I knew I was going to live this long I would have planned ahead...... Steve1
freeflir29 0 #19 January 2, 2003 Quote Can you imagine how crowded this state would be if there were also great job opportunities That's EXACTLY what has kept the population in Montana at ~800,000 for the last 30 years. I personally hope it stays that way. I have seen what development has done to Georgia. I really don't want to see that happen out there too. It would be a shame. Quote If I knew I was going to live this long I would have planned ahead. Heheehehehehee.....yeah...I'm trying not to fall into that trap....

Gawain 0 #23 January 2, 2003 I'm in Enterprise Sales...selling a lot of the toys many people have mentioned thus far. CPE like Cisco, Extreme, Nortel, NEC, Alcatel as well as IP and other WAN network solutions. Cabling, Business Continuity Consulting, Network Security...tons more. While it's "outside" sales, there's heavy amounts of paper and contract work. If I'm not in the field, I'm in the office...and I hate being in the office. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
