narcimund 0 #1 December 14, 2002 You know, I was feeling really bad the other day about how awful I've treated heterosexuals. I think I once ribbed one about being "ok for a straight guy." Now he's unnaturally having sex with other men to get my social approval. By the way, he's white, makes $90,000 at an office job, and has never been beaten up or thrown out of his home and family for his heterosexuality. But I've oppressed him and hereby surrender myself to the international tribunal on human rights. First Class Citizen Twice Over

quatorze 1 #3 December 14, 2002 Must we begin again Quote My advice: Every time you make a post, before you click "Post", do this little ritual: 1. If the post actually has to do with skydiving, I mean REALLY something interesting or important about leaving airplanes in flight, skip to 3. 2. If not, flip a coin. If it comes up heads, close the window before clicking "Post". This will solve half the problem. 3. If the coin comes up tails, walk away from the computer for 5 minutes. Come back and read your post again. Ask yourself, "Will anyone who reads this care?" Be honest with yourself. If you can't imagine a lot of people caring, and I don't just mean one or two, close the window before clicking Post. Use your past performance as a training tool. 4. If you still think someone might care about what you have to say, spend a minute -- a WHOLE SLOW 60 SECONDS -- rereading your post for spelling errors, punctuation errors, doubled words, swapped words, unintended phonetic variations, etc. Fix them. No really, this isn't just elitist college graduate bigotry. Terrible writing really does diminish the final result. 5. If you've passed all these steps, think about the content ONE MORE TIME then click "Post." Prepare yourself for people who will object to your post. Be nice to them. Absorb their comments for your future decisions.Try to get better at this. Just something that you said to Void425, that I thought was rather well thought out and all around good advice I'm not afriad of dying, I'm afraid of never really living- Erin Engle
Gawain 0 #4 December 14, 2002 LMAO...that's one impressionable "breeder"...now, if you really want to play with him, have him listen to some old Sam Kinneson stand-up. That should get him committed to the institution before Groundhog Day... Is there any other slang that us heteros are referred to? mikkif 0 #5 December 14, 2002 Narci, you can't take all the blame. Heteros have long been oppressed, not allowed to express their natural spectral-sexual instincts. We, on the other hand, have been allowed to express our true, God-given sexuality, allowing our chi flowing more freely through our chakra. While this does give us a responsiblity as the superior preferencetate, we must also realize that quite often those people, you know, "them", have brought in upon themselves, watching Will and Grace, owning Tivos, wearing bright colors, etc. So while I applaud you for taking the high road, and recognizing your faults, don't let it deter you from living your determined destiny. Just make sure you are more sensitive to those less fortunate. When its, you know, convenient. Bro.Freedom -- Expression -- Spirit

narcimund 0 #7 December 14, 2002 Thanks for quoting me back to myself. I always get a kick out of being researched. In fact, I did look over my post for spelling errors, and the other tests as well. Anyway, on to the main reason for my post: On behalf of all of us oppressors, I extend my apologies to you quatorze, cgross, and goose491. The minority of middle class white heterosexual males account for only about 20% of the US population, and they've long suffered unbearable persecution. Your victimization by homosexuals is legendary and I personally would like to spearhead corrective action in Congress in your name. Yes, the 2003 Quatorze Uniform Ethical Equalization of Representation for Straights legislation will forevermore correct the horrible inequities you have long endured. Monetary reparations will be included of course, as hetersexuals have long suffered ostracization from the lucrative careers of bed pan nurse, hair stylist, and interior decorator monopolized by the viscious homos. (Edited for spelling errors, on Quatorze's advice.) First Class Citizen Twice Over
Jessica 0 #8 December 14, 2002 Every time I had a bad breakup with a guy I used to swear to myself that I would turn to lesbianism...but it never took. narcimund 0 #9 December 14, 2002 QuoteIs there any other slang that us heteros are referred to? Hmmm. Slang comes and goes quickly and I don't keep up. Breeder is all I can think of right now. Despite some people's belief that everyone is always thinking about them, you heterosexuals just aren't the biggest topic of conversation when gay people get together. On the other hand, "gay" conversation is pretty dull and repetitious and we might have better parties if we talked about you guys more. By the way, I did a quick web search and found this great editorial on the problem of a dearth of derogatory terms for straights. quatorze 1 #11 December 14, 2002 From the other thread Homos II Quote I understand the meaning of your statement for what it was worth, but the "ridiculous ideas" part bothered me, it seemed a little high and mighty IMHO and so does this thread also from the same Homo II thread Quote Still I am concerned by the fact that, these statements seem more prevalent on the pro-bi side then the others, it seems to me, as I have read this thread since the beginning, that for some reason that side of the argument feels some sort of enlightenment, that there is no way for any one on the other side of the argument to possibly be anywhere near the vicinity of being correct. I guess what I am trying to get at for both sides is if you ask for tolerance, you should happily give tolerance to others opinions. not oppresion and no need for retribution, but if you are so bitter, then why even engage in conversation with someone who has no real opinion one way or the other about the issue of individual sexualtiy, I don't care who warms your or anyone's bed ecxept mine and most every one else probably feels the same way. I was asking for tolerance from BOTH sides of the particular debate, if that demonizes me fine so be it, but come down of your high horse and hang out with the rest of us. I replied to your post originaly, beause it came across as belligerent, do you really want to get another heated debate going again? Hell Skycop asked a better question, and I quote "Have you been talking to crazythomas?" No offense Tomand one more thing, the statement, taken in context, with intonation, Quote Yes, the 2003 Quatorze Uniform Ethical Equalization of Representation for Straights could be seen as a personal attack. Just because I am hetero, does not mean that you are more open minded, well versed, better person then me. Keep it civil and keep me the fuck out of it. narcimund 0 #14 December 14, 2002 Quatorze, I can quote from other threads too! From d-dog: QuoteNot getting enough attention lately? Such a shame - someday, someone should surgically implant a sense of humor in you. You were not the subject of my initial post, but you jumped in with a highly snotty, backhanded attack about it. But you know what? That's ok. I didn't sniffle and whine about it. I just responded -- WITH HUMOR! Are you so vain you think this thread is about you? It wasn't, but if you want to get defensive about it, you can be part of it. It's sort of a class-action thing. You can tell a lot about a person by what they spontaneously deny. quatorze 1 #15 December 14, 2002 look, after following all the threads concerning the particular subject and how heated a debate it was and how some people's feelings started to flare up, did you really think that was such a good topic to open again? That is passive agressive in my book, its like you're picking a fight, should I go back and delet my responses so that the people who are not at work can respond to your original post and you will see that I am not the only one (read; SkyCop thought it was fukt to) maybe, the threads that have died, left you with some questions/statements that you decided to troll and see who took the bait, this makes me ask Quote Not getting enough attention lately? (and I have only quoted 2 people until now, you and me.) I posted your "Post Test" hoping that you would reread your original post in a different light and think that maybe looking for an argument wasn't exactly what you really wanted to do on a Friday night/Saturday morning. To answer vain? Not me, could give less a shit, I really mean no offense when I say this but the odds of you and I actually meeting in person are quite slim, and there are many other things to worry about, and I haven't denied anything, you really don't know anything about my views over the entire thing, all you know is how I feel about the way the argument progressed and the views were stated. Sorry I missed the Humor in your response to the reply, which I had made in jest, (I was actually smiling until your reply) I guess that we missed the humor of each others sarcasm Maybe we both have a chip or two on or shoulders stillAnd with that I am done I'm not afriad of dying, I'm afraid of never really living- Erin Engle
flyhi 24 #16 December 14, 2002 Quote The minority of middle class white heterosexual males account for only about 20% of the US population, and they've long suffered unbearable persecution. Add to that the fact the I'm left-handed and you have a true minority. I assume a lot of that "unbearable persecution" comes in the form of, "pick that up", "you didn't put the seat down, again", "is that what you're wearing to my cousin's wedding?", and "take the garbage out". Damn those hetero, white woman.Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
cgross 1 #17 December 14, 2002 Sorry ladies and gents, gays and straights. I have to laugh at all this shit now. See, in retrospect, I am probably the cause of all the commotion in the HomoII thread. But hey, if I didn't do someone else would have, and they would be several posts closer to carple-tunnel than I am.I stand by what I say, so due to the risk of not getting any work done here today, I promise not to get involved in this trhead.
