cgross 1 #76 December 11, 2002 I also agree. I feel everyone has had their time to air and so will I. "THE THOUGHTS EXPRESSED IN THE FOLLOWING REPRESENT THE VIEWS OF CHRIS AND IN NO WAY REFLECT THOSE OF DZ.COM" The fact is people are gay, BUT with all the pc B.S. over the years, there has been a push to mainstream something that is in actuality a very rare thing. It has become "Cool" to be gay and therefore many people that are not gay experiment and say they are gay. No, they are confused and experimenting. In humans and in animals, homosexuality runs in about 1.5% of the population. (The Gays Hate This Statement, But It Is true) Being homosexual is a genetic abnormality which occures naturally in the above percentage. There is nothing one can do if they are born gay. HOWEVER, with all of that being said..... Recent surveys show Gay populations of over 10% in some areas, and that is a direct sign that society is deciding to be gay and not "actually" being genetically gay. And that is what I am not TOLORANT of. If the population continues this "gay" craze like it has shown over the past 10 yr, ther will be a dramatic population decrease. I am a very tolorant person, but I am not the most pc guy you will ever meet. These are my beliefs again, just as you all have yours. Chris

narcimund 0 #83 December 11, 2002 If this planet were faced with a population DECREASE problem AND your conclusions about why people identify as gay were valid AND it was true that experimenting heterosexuals are incapable of breeding, I would share your sentiment. However, none of these is pursuasive. While it is undoubtably true that people experiment with sexual activities that are outside of their primary orientation (I have), it is not true that they are thereby somehow prevented from having kids. While it is possibly true that 1.5% is naturally gay, I have never seen anything to indicate that this number is any more or less accurate than Kinsey's 10% or any other. While it is true that population density of homosexuals varies, that does NOT imply that there is a conversion going on in those areas. Population shifts for all sorts of reasons and gay meccas are a popular resettlement option for obvious reasons. Even if it WERE true that there were conversion going on AND that converted heterosexuals never bred, it would STILL be necessary to prove that the rate were increasing rapidly enough to overcome other population factors, and that's not even HINTED at in your posting. You've also complained about the unhealthy abuse of PC pressures, and I agree with you. "PC" is a movement whose primary aim is to reduce unnecessary smothering of minority viewpoints. It can be overused with bad results. QuoteI am a very tolorant person, but I am not the most pc guy you will ever meet. These are my beliefs again, just as you all have yours. Most of the claims in your posting are either verifiably true or verifiably false. If your belief in them is contingent on their truth, then I have no problem with them. If you believe in false things despite all evidence, then I would conclude you're overly attached to them for some other reason than reason. narcimund 0 #84 December 11, 2002 If you believe the NW is more than 10% gay, please cite your sources. Also, please cite your source for your claim that 1.5% is a more reasonable figure. I ask because I've seen some particularly creative claims made by those who have an ax to grind (on both sides, of course). For instance, a political group called the Oregon Citizen's Alliance here in Oregon once sent out brochures claiming that gay men eat one pound of human feces per year, on average and that we have over 1000 sexual partners per year. goose491 0 #89 December 11, 2002 ??? Everybody knows that it "trendy" to be gay in certain areas. Everybody knows that it is "trendier in others. I remember going to visit a friend of mine, deep in the village, in Montreal. He was going to McGuill University and had gotten into a 'click' with many gay people. He wasn't gay, but living in the middle of the village, I remember him introducing me to friends:"Hey, this is my friend Nick"... followed by what shocked me near-dead: "He's straight but he's a pretty cool guy." WHAT! BUT??? I almost shit myself from laughter before I saw that most of the friends he was talking to were taking him seriously and looking at me in a you're lucky he said you were cool. type of way... disgusting As far as Increased Gays = Lower Population ? Though it is possible for gay couples to "obtain" a child, it is INpossible for them to create one. Thus, another obstacle in the already complexe ordeal of reproducing. Deep in the village in Montreal, where the Gay population is in the high nineties, I don't think there are as many Babies being born as say, here in Markham, the quiet Ontario Suburb where I live. In fact, If placing bets for the "lowest babies per capita" cities, I Know you would put your money on the ones you know to be primarily GAY! By that science, I would have to say that an increase in the gay popula would definately mean a lower futur-population. I have a very religious friend that claims Homosexuality itself is God's answer to an overpopulated planet.... He has all his answers prepared Q: "Why then, are other animals gay? Even endagered ones?" A: "Because what is done, is done to the living, not to the man, beast, plant, but the living." Q:"You mean there are gay plants?" A:"Didn't you know?" Okay, the second QandA I made up but I bet you smiled at it My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

narcimund 0 #94 December 11, 2002 Goose, you claimed to be in the sciences I think, but perhaps not as a scientist with the strict training involved. If you're going to make claims of scientific fact, however, it would be nice if you could back them up even a little bit. So let's start over: What is your basis for believing 1.5% is the naturally occuring rate of homosexuality? What is your basis for believing 10% is occuring in certain areas? What is your basis for believing this increase is caused by peer pressure? What is your basis for believing that peer-induced homosexual experimentation reduces birth rates? Edited to add: If your claim is the experimenters become permanently and exclusively homosexual, please give your basis for believing this as well.End of edit And finally, what is your basis for believing that "peer-induced homosexual experimentation" related reduced birth rates is increasing rapidly enough to reverse the exponetial growth in population? SpeedRacer 1 #96 December 11, 2002 HMMM well the other thing is people are talking about gay & straight as if its that cut&dry, when there are many people who swing both ways. I figure its a spectrum. Some people are bi but tend to lean more often in one direction than the other. And I would say there's a lot of people out there like this. Some people are so far into one end or the other that yes, they are exclusively gay or straight. Naturally, biology will tend to slant things in the direction of most people being more heterosexual, but still I think there's a spectrum. Referring to a rather poorly thought out post I posted above, I probably have some issues of my own to deal with, having encountered a couple of bisexual men in the past who assumed that because they had homosexual inclinations, that everyone does, and that some people are just too uptight to admit it, how do you know til you've tried, etc. etc. That pissed me off a bit because after all we've been through getting straight people to accept gays, why can't straight people be accepted as such as well. I guess one way to look at it is this is an example of bigotry vs. gays backfiring on a straight man, because these bisexual men may have been acting out a deperate need to feel that their homosexual feelings were widespread & everyone has them. SpeedRacer 1 #97 December 11, 2002 Quote Being homosexual is a genetic abnormality which occures naturally in the above percentage It's never been proven that homosexuality is genetic. Certainly evolution would tend to select against it if it were, and I would think that it would become much rarer than it is. Of course, I can't rule it out either. It may 1) be genetic or 2) environmental or 3) pre-natal exposure to something. Some of these possibilites are more likely than others. edited: and no, I don't believe somone can be influenced to be gay if they don't already have it in them. Your teenage son doesn't "turn" gay just because his English teacher "seemed a bit swishy" & spent too much time discussing Oscar Wilde! cgross 1 #99 December 11, 2002 sorry for the delayed post, but I have not been online. I was only using the NW as an example... not for fact. It was in response to a post that birds of a feather flock together. To that I say yes they do. we obviously would rather be with people that we feel more comforatable with. The % numbers are (and I will quote when I go back and find the exact authors) were based on 2 idependantly done biological studies using apes and non-domesticated dogs. I know there will be backlash about the "apes and dogs" study, but I think this info is in fact better. I feel that way because, the apes and dogs are far less likely to be pursuaded by society. It is true they do conform to reletive society rules, but it has been shown with sex this is not the case. Therefore a good % can be obtained. In human surveys, people tend to lie either for or against, and it is difficult to get an accurate reading. again this goes against my claim that the % has increased, this could be caused by the "human" factor. This is why what I am saying is not complete truth. A good deal is my own belief as well. narcimund- feel free to PM. Nothing you say will offend me here, i know we are just talking.
