mountainman 0 #1 December 12, 2002 Does it seem to anyone else that having all these numbers for every type of person that has another hobby is cheapening the whole concept as a whole? It used to be that you had to do something special or party with people and do a tradition to get in and a number. Now, you can just say "I want one." and you're in. Just a thought. What do all of you think?http://www.brandonandlaura.com
Sonic 0 #2 December 12, 2002 I have a head. Can I have a number please? ----------------------------------- It's like something out of that twilighty show about that zone
narcimund 0 #3 December 12, 2002 A similar complaint was made on the BASE board recently. Someone was upset at the new "Gay Base #" being discussed. (And no, "Gay Base" does not refer to the base jumper's homosexuality. But that's a long story.) So I'll crosspost my answer here: QuoteSome people LIKE combining different parts of their lives. It's playful and it feeds some desire of the human spirit to unify their parts -- for some! So what if someone wants to be known as the first left handed jewish redhead with asthma to handstand off a smokestack with a gas mask? Let 'em have fun! Quoted from another post: "So now there's Night BASE, Naked BASE, F*ck BASE, Drag BASE, and what else? And isn't this all just a blast???" -- K First Class Citizen Twice Over
wildblue 7 #4 December 12, 2002 We already had something like that, it was called Number Whore Numbers it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
airann 1 #5 December 12, 2002 MM- I think you are right. Started with a Wreck Dot thang. I blame Espen. Anyway, honorary numbers that actually mean something in tradition are fine even sought out. AD#s, Muff Bros, Freak Bros, SCR etc. The newest vSCR #s bugs the hell out of me. Vertical SCR. The dive is a freaking Hybrid not true Vertical. If you are going to have a vSCR then be Vertical. If you want a Hybrid #, get Bill to make up hSCR #s. ERG.. The Ugly Skydiver Chick numbers served their purpose for the brief time period. (#6) And anyway the only number that is an extreme honor is AA#s (AirAnn) they start at 8 and are all even. The list is currently secret. The most interesting number system I have heard about lately is where by all girls who get a certain temp tattoo on their ass and spanked all on VIDEO. Get a number. ~AirAnn~
wildblue 7 #6 December 12, 2002 We decided to be different, we don't hand out numbers, we hand out symbols. I am ¥ it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
Skyrose7 0 #7 December 12, 2002 I came up with numbers for those without numbers for this very reason. Everyone has a number, it cracks me up. So, why not laugh and make a joke of it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. MaryRose
