New Year's Eve parties

Recommended Posts

If you are single, are you comfortable going to New Year's Eve parties alone, or do you view it as an event that's more appropriate for couples?

Don't know this will be my first New Years as a singleton again, hadn't really been thinking about it ..........but now I am:|

I very comfortable with it, right up 'till midnight, where if I've arrived alone, it becomes apparent that my "comfort" with being single has its limits...that's one of them. ;) Of course, if I am fortunate to have a date that evening....though I've not been prospecting either...

So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

Yeah, but ours is a sit-down dinner at a hotel and with dancing and stuff. It's not just the normal dz.party.

I don't have any problem going to a New Year's Eve party alone, as long as I have friends there.

The awkward part is going to be at midnight when the whole room is smooching except you. And don't drink too much and smooch some substandard guy at midnight!

Going "alone" ROCKS!!! :D

God, I hate it when I agree with Clay ;) I never went to a New Year's Eve party with a "date" before, but it's been years since I haven't received a kiss at midnight (score one for the random makeout!) I don't think going alone is better than going with a date (and vice versa.) You just have to go with a different mindset. A person can either sit there and pine over their loneliness, or they can view it as an opportunity to get to know many people.
There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

I end up going to most things alone. Having a bf that lives so far away makes it impossible to have him attend every party with me. I go anyway and have a great time with my friends. At certain times during the party i'm gonna think about him and miss him, but thats normal. I don't dwell on the fact that he's not there, i just hang with freinds and have a good time.

Well, I had a total of 19 years of having someone there to go with me places, so it's just a little strange to me now after all this time. And see, now I just reminded you all of how old I am! :P
