Good News (Hopefully)

Recommended Posts

Following Rhino and Clay, I figured I'd bring you all up to date on developments here in JAX:

Many of you know I have been gainfully unemployed since CA and I agreed to disagree in June of 2001. Due to the tech crash and other political/economic developments since, the job search has been long, painful and unfruitful. It is a buyer's market, folk, and old dinosaurs like me are not in great demand.

A couple weeks ago, I got an email from a very respected executive placement firm that they had reviewed my resume and thought they might be able to help me. I went through several hoops, and had a face to face with them today. It was very encouraging.

Tomorrow Lynn and I have a two hour session scheduled with them and if all goes well, I may rejoin the ranks of the active taxpayers early in 2003, as they feel there are things that are a good fit for me that will be open in the first four months.

These are the heavy hitters, the folks that know the jobs that never make it to the ads. When they offer a candidate, most companies listen. I'm stoked about this opportunity. Please keep your fingers, eyes, legs, etc. crossed for us.

Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money.

Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

You won't have to relocate, will you?

No, I expressed my deep seated reluctance to relo. They feel that there will be multiple opportunites right here in The River City.

You posted this past my bedtime, Jack, and I'm just now catching up. But, I hope it's not too late to say 'good luck" too! :)

Good vibes Jack! It seems that the higher pay brackets are having the WORST time getting jobs. One of our AFF instructors who was making $100K plus per year has now been out of work for a VERY long time. See......it's poor saps like me that can get by on $40-50K per year that can replace our jobs quickly. :D Anyway...good luck!

Out 2 hour session turned into 3 1/2 hours.

Bottom Line? They have agreed to take me on as a client and are confident of getting me back into the workforce at a pretty decent salary.

Now the work really begins.

Thanlks for the good wishes, folks. The PMs really were a boost, too.B|
