Rats VS Mice in freefall

Recommended Posts

I found this little item in The Register this morning in the trivia column by L.M Boyd:
"if rats and mice are tossed out of an airplane at high altitude, the rats will die in the fall but the mice will walk away from it"
Theb sad thing is, someone probably spent grant money tossing animals out of planes to learn this[:/]

"...the mice will walk away from it" - yeah right

I have heard of chickens being thrown out of jump planes - apparently they try to fly for a moment...then their wings snap off.

Yeah, I know, it's a bit harsh.

The only thing worse than a cold toilet seat is a warm toilet seat.

Enough with this animal loving crap. I have heard that a cat can withstand a freefall of more than 100 feet, because of the density of it body compared to it's surface area. A dog? Not so talented. Cats get real messed up from the 30-60 foot range, before terminal (CAT) velocity is reached, and before they can use windspeed to their advantage. A dog? I don;t know. Never researched it, but I bet much over 20 feet kills em.
Why the humanity? Why mice and rats? let's talk about cats and dogs. Better yet, birds and humans.
Peace,
Thomas

Why the humanity

Because it makes the world a better place.

some of the info you posted is interesting, morbid, but interesting. I think however it reads as a very negative comment if it isn't intended as such then maybe you should choose your words more carefully then people would resond better. IMHO

disclamer: this is not intended to flame anyone or to piss anyone off.
