Hooknswoop 19 #26 November 28, 2002 QuoteThats bulshit but it doesnt surprise me at all, after a student spends so muchmoney on training they are not gonna say no to a 25$ signing fee, if a instructor does that they should be reportd to uspa and lose their rating. Once again, I don't agree w/ the idea of S & TA's charging to sign something off, but what BSR are they violating. You can't arbitrarily revoke an Instructor's (or S & TA's) rating. Show me in the S & TA's Handbook or the SIM's what rule they violated and I'll be the first to e-mail/call USPA to report this. Another example, should a DPRE sign off peeople to be riggers out of the goodness of their heart? DPRE's charge for their services, why not S & TA's? This is where the sport is headed as it gets more and more commercialized and loses the "club" atmosphere. Hook
jlmiracle 7 #27 December 2, 2002 This needs to be brought to the attention of the USPA so it does not happen any more. There is a BOD meeting in January and if they know about it, they can put it on the agenda to fix this. JudyBe kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. mujie96 0 #28 December 2, 2002 Hmmm, I'm a low timer but sounds like a load of crap to me. Besides, if your DZ is anything like mine, you invest at least $25 worth of time getting ahold of that S&TA or instructor and keeping him on the ground long enough to sign. ALso between graduating AFF and accumulating the 20 jumps required for the license (is it 25 now?) you've probably had to contribute a few cases of beer as well....Go somewhere else. quade 4 #29 December 2, 2002 QuoteThe USPA can't revoke their S & TA status if they didn't actaully do anything wrong. S&TAs (according to the USPA web site) are appointed by the Regional Directors as the local rep of the USPA. I would imagine that if a RD can appoint a S&TA as he sees fit, then he also has the power to revoke that status as he sees fit.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

quade 4 #33 December 2, 2002 QuoteTry and get an FAA Designated Evaluator to sign off your Private Pilot's License (or any other rating/endorsement), "For the love of flying"." COMPLETELY different issue. Generally speaking you're paying for a DE's time and not for the signature. At a minimum, a DE is going to spend about 3 hours just to sign off a private. Nope, I'm not a DE, but I've spent more than my fair share in dealing with them.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

konradptr 0 #35 December 3, 2002 QuoteQuoteTry and get an FAA Designated Evaluator to sign off your Private Pilot's License (or any other rating/endorsement), "For the love of flying"." I had to pay the designated examiner for my private, instrument, and commercial, but when I took my flight instructor checkrides, it was free, because the checkride was by a representative of the FAA. ISN'T THAT WHAT THE USPA THINKS THAT THEY ARE??? Protectorates of big government, big regulation, necessity to spend even more than the $44 that I see nothing from??? LOW TIMERS: If someone tries to sheist you for cash for a signature, tell them to f-off... Those are the same skygod a-holes that make me hate the dropzone that I jump at now (Mile Hi, Denver)... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
