Southern_Man 0 #1 January 29, 2013 I have a lead on this model machine, but at this point I know very little about the different machines. This one looks as though it would be good for harness and container work. Is that a correct assumptions? What would be a fair price for this machine? I might pass on this one as I am more interested in something I can use on canopies, as this would be my first machine and I'm guessing I'll have more call to do that than harness work. Any recommendations for a good all-purpose, but suitable for canopy, machines? I searched some old threads but they were, well, old."What if there were no hypothetical questions?" councilman24 37 #2 January 30, 2013 Are you sure you have the model right? There apparently was a Consew 266 but I can't find a parts diagram or a even a photo of the thing anywhere. Only very passing references for a couple of parts. If that's what it is it's an oddball.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
Southern_Man 0 #3 January 30, 2013 No, I got the model number wrong. It is a 226, not 266. I have not looked at the machine but that is what it is advertised as. Here is some of the text from the add: Used Consew model 226R-1 industrial sewing machine with WALKING FOOT.* Includes stand (table), Premier II "C"-series clutch motor, bobbin winder, thread rack, and lamp. Comes with extra bobbins & needles, oil, and owners manual. This is a very heavy duty machine, which sews at a much higher speed than a domestic or "home" sewing machine"What if there were no hypothetical questions?" Southern_Man 0 #4 January 30, 2013 I've also found this one. From the pictures it looks like a more appropriate machine for what I am looking for, but I am again interested in feedback, it doesn't seem to be one of the model numbers referenced in threads here: Have a industrail sewing machine 7360R Consew---works good"What if there were no hypothetical questions?" masterrigger1 2 #5 January 30, 2013 The Consew 226 is simply a Consew 225 with reverse. Great sewing machine for heavier type work. It will sew up to and including "F" thread. It also has a horizontal hook. The 7360 is a single needle, drop feed machine that works great for light to medium sewing repair. It is a self oiler and when used with a servo motor, is a tame, easy to use sewing machine for the beginner. This is the same sewing machine that we use in Dave DeWolf's course. We have 10 of them there. Cheers, MELSkyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com
