PLFXpert 0 #4 November 22, 2002 Not trying to start controversy, but "Muslims" is a whole group of people and the terrorists/rioters, etc. do not represent the entire group. You might say, "Those kind-hearted Muslim extremists" or just "Those kind-hearted extremists" b/c we all know extremists of every religion do crazy, uncool things Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. freeflir29 0 #6 November 22, 2002 Quote"Muslims" is a whole group of people and the terrorists/rioters, etc. do not represent the entire group True...but it seems to be a good cross section in that area. Not that anyone has an illusion that Nigeria is a "safe" place for anyone. That country has been the site of some MAJOR military contracting in recent years. wmw999 2,458 #7 November 22, 2002 Then maybe "those kind hearted Nigerians" would have been a little more accurate. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. Muenkel 0 #9 November 22, 2002 Maybe we are not truly understanding those "kind-hearted Muslim extremists" (that's for Carrie). Maybe it is a genetic thing. Maybe they are truly just one chromosome away from being a spud potato. Just a thought. _________________________________________ Chris
TB99 0 #10 November 22, 2002 Uh, thanks ... appreciate the comment there Muenkel. I'm MuslimThanks Carrie, for real. Every religion has their extremist ... it just seems like there are more Muslims these days. Just think back in the past, I'm sure you'll find plenty of Catholics and other such religions that have done monsterous things. Who knows what the future holds for religion! Any true Muslim doesn't do any of the garbage you see on the news all the time. It's all forbiddin and sins in the religion, yet somehow they think of ways to try and say it's part of the religion. Then everyone who is not informed properly of the religion thinks it's true and we all look like assholes. Trailer 11/12 was the best. Thanks for the memories ... you guys rocked! DJL 235 #11 November 22, 2002 Yeah, I just can't seem to find any of those fly Puritan chicks any more. Onward: Here's a thought. What would Jerry Faldwell do if he were a religious leader in an undeveloped country? Kind of scary if you ask me. Maybe he wouldn't be the one to promote the violence but I'm sure he'd lay the groundwork for its ignorance. -Doug"I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
base698 19 #12 November 22, 2002 And to further break down the classification. There are Muslim extremists who are non-violent. One in Egypt springs to mind just prints newspapers. Wonder why we never hear of them on the news???
Muenkel 0 #13 November 22, 2002 I was referring to Muslim Extremists, not Muslims in general. Take it from me, a Catholic, I know what it is like for people to declare you guilty by association. _________________________________________ Chris

Schroeder 0 #16 November 22, 2002 I'm not muslim, and I wouldn't call myself catholic either. I was (catholic) for my life leading up to about 5 years ago. I'm kinda relaxed on religion. But I gotta admit, that in this world of so few things being sacred, everything being reduced, consumed, exploited, etc. Sometimes, I think that a certain level of anger is understandable. I mean come on. Saying that he would have wanted one of those women? That's like KY Jelly saying that Jesus preferred his women use it. I don't agree with the rioting, but for humanities sake, let people maintain what they believe to be sacred. It really concerns me that something that would be recieved better here in north america (not without an angry response mind you), in our _very_ open minded (almost numbed) society is taking a test run in the rest of the world. I don't know if I just articulated what I intended, but I hope so.
freeflir29 0 #17 November 22, 2002 Quote I mean come on. Saying that he would have wanted one of those women? That's like KY Jelly saying that Jesus preferred his women use it. Oh....I don't disagree with you there. It was an incredibly stupid thing to say. The reaction however was exponentially more stupid. "Gee that guy SAID something I don't like. I think I'll go kill some people and burn down a few buildings. I had some vacation time from work that I needed to use up anyway and it's such nice weather out." TB99 0 #18 November 22, 2002 Quotelet people maintain what they believe to be sacred. I agree ... what was said was BS and shouldn't have been printed, but for them to do what they did is rediculus. Protest it (the calm ones that are legal here in America), boycott the paper, whatever, do something that's legal. I think it's just dumb to go killing 100 people for ANY reason (otther than fighting a war). Trailer 11/12 was the best. Thanks for the memories ... you guys rocked! PhillyKev 0 #19 November 22, 2002 Yes, censorship will cure all our ills. Don't express your opinions if it differs from others because they might riot. I don't think it's understandable to get THAT angry that you'll torture and kill others because of an editorial no matter what it says.

cgross 1 #21 November 22, 2002 Let's just face the fact that in many groups (religious) there are always idiots. There are however certain fanatics that take everything to the extream. This includes catholics, christian fundamentalist, muslims, jews... etc. There is one major difference I see though. In the Muslim community I don't see many people standing up and saying what is going on is wrong and bad. This could be a result of the US media propaganda not letting that come thru. But, The muslim community in this country should speak out and condem these people, and point out that in general they are a peaceful God (alla) loveing group. freeflir29 0 #22 November 22, 2002 QuoteThe muslim community in this country should speak out and condem these people I have actually seen quite a bit of that. Seems like the media has gone looking for this story.
TB99 0 #23 November 22, 2002 I have spoken out. And have also seen many religous leaders in many communities speak out. Even the big time leaders in big communities in states such as NY and such have come out in the news. Maybe you're missing those news clips, but we do speak out. Trailer 11/12 was the best. Thanks for the memories ... you guys rocked!
Schroeder 0 #24 November 22, 2002 Well, Like I said, I believe an angry response in warranted, but not what is going on right now. And about censorship, I mean, come on, sometimes, it's only common sense to keep your mouth shut. And I agree with the notion of the muslim community speaking (even more) out on these recent events. cgross 1 #25 November 22, 2002 I have seen some stuff don't get me wrong. And i also stated it may not be as noticed because it is filtered by the US media, who knows. Regardless, this stuff will continue to exist, and will continue to certain cultures bad names.
