"Surprise twist in Clara Harris murder case"
11/19/2002

By Amy Tortolani / 11 News

HOUSTON (KHOU)-- A Clear Lake dentist accused of running over her husband with her Mercedes, was back in court Tuesday morning.

The motion hearing in the Clara Harris murder case included some surprise twists.

First, defense attorneys filed a total of 17 motions including a request to push back the January trial date. They also requested oral statements given by the victim's 16-year-old daughter, Lindsay, who was in her stepmother's car the night David Harris was killed.

Prosecutors say Clara Harris ran over David Harris repeatedly after confronting him with another woman at a Nassau Bay hotel.

The bombshell came from Blue Moon Investigations, the firm allegedly hired by Clara Harris to follow her husband. Blue Moon employees say they have new evidence in the case that could be life threatening to Gail Bridges, the alleged mistress in the case.

They say they have at least five audiotapes to back up the allegations. It's not clear whose voice is on the audiotapes. The judge has placed a gag order on all audio and videotapes involved in the case.

Also Tuesday, Blue Moon went to court to try and retrieve their videotape of the accident from police. A private investigator with the firm allegedly caught the murder on tape.

Blue Moon turned the tape over to police, but they say Clara Harris violated the terms of the contract, so the videotape is the firm's property. A judge denied their request.

What are your thoughts? I think she'll "walk" "Hell hath no fury like a woman's scorn!"

Leave it to Houston for Drama like this......:D Of course here in Atlanta we have the murdered Sheriff and the whole "Gold Club" debacle. *shrug*

And here in Philly, 3 blocks from my house, we have the Club Signatures debacle. Which is the problem that it's owned by the same guys who owned the Gold Club and they've been trying to expand for 3 years but zoning won't let it go through.

Yes, youre missing something here. Youre missing a front license plate as required by Texas State law. General Motors can mold anything they want to in the front of your 'vette but youre still required to cover it up with a license plate.

And yes,,,its a chicken shit law. Only thing it might be good for is identifying cars both coming and going (like for witnesses of hit and run accidents and crime scene and such, although that doesnt happen often.)

Sniper speaks the truth. Another thing that not a lot of people know is that if you have driving lights on the front of your car, they can not be blue or red. I had a friend get a $100-ish ticket for having blue driving lights (not headlights) on the front of his car (in the bumper). He'd had them there for a few months, didn't even know there was a law.

Yup, I had an officer turn on his lights, pull a 180 and get behind me. After I stopped and he came up to the window he apologized for pulling me over which he did because he didn't see any registration / inspection stickers on my windshield and no front tag which is why he pulled me over.

The reason he didn't see them is that we don't have front plates in OK, our tag expiration is on the actual tag, and we don't have vehicle inspection so there's another sticker I don't need on my windshield.

He was pretty cool about it after he realized his mistake though.
