Your Heritage?

Recommended Posts

Okay, so Michele's post on her International Heritage office lunch got me thinking.........:S

What is your heritage? Ethnic background?

I am of Swedish and German descent, maybe some English too.

The reason I said maybe some English, was most of the heritage research has been done from my grandmothers family and just now the research has been done on my father's side, and it's English! I thought I should clarify that somewhat.

On mom's side, I'm 100% Swedish - her grandmother came over on the boat. On Dad's side, a little of everything but, someone did trace the lineage back to William Bradford, the leader of the Plymouth Colony...

so if you're father's side is English, the "maybe" is because you're not sure if he's really your father? Good thing you cleared that up :P

No!!!! He is my father, I guess I just worded it wrong, and I was trying to remember where all the ancestors were from. :S What can I say, too much thinking with a headache, just makes it worse!

Me, I'm 100% purebred American mutt. As far as I know, there's some irish, scottish, english, german and possibly some other europeans in there.
Never done much family research, but I'm pretty sure we are at least fifth generation americans.

All Swedish.
One set of great-grandparents, on being offered the opportunity to pick a last name as they arrived, decided to go with something a little more distinctive and American-sounding, instead of the Andersen they had.

They picked Johnson:D

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Father's side -- Polish and Dalmatian (no, NOT the dog -- look it up)

Mother's side -- Austrian and ?. Her dad was born in Sweden of Czech/Romany parentage.

Guess that basically makes me a Slavic/Nordic Gypsy?

Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money.

Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?
