- don't ask me about this category as I'm still not having much weekend luck here (though I will be taking a some what cute whuffo to an Avs game on Tuesday). :S

- I got three jumps in which was lower than hoped but much better than zero. I only got to jump once on Saturday due to some high winds, but I managed to get two more in on Sunday in once again strong winds. My last jump of the day was filled with real highs and lows. During the free fall I managed to hold my free fly sit for almost the entire ride averaging 150+ mph and maxing out at 161 mph. It was sweet as I'm starting to understand how to free fly sit. But the bummer (pardon the pun) of the dive was my landing as I suffered an injury. No I didn't femur in or anything. But the winds were way strong and I misjudge how little penetration I would get (hey not that kind of penetration, get your mind out of the gutter). Anyway, I landed off into a cactus field and suffered hundreds of cactus needle piercings. All I can say is "Ouch". :o

- Finally, I probably owe a case of beer for jumping a Caravan at Skydive the Rockies (Canon City, CO) for the first time.

Wingnut>> Thanks for letting me crash on your couch Saturday night and good job videoing that five-way earlier in the day. :$

Hookenswoop>> Thanks for helping me out with my tangled up rig after my wind cut away and let's not forget helping me get a few of those cactus needles out of my leg. If the weather cooperates and the whuffo boss doesn't make me work weekends, I'll see you guys in two weekends. But next weekend I'm either jumping at Longmont or maybe I'll visit Brush. ;)

I shot someone in the ass with a BB gun!! That was way fun!!

LOL ... was that you who shot hundreds of cactus needles into my ass and my leg earlier today? If it wasn't I wonder who was in more pain, the bloke you shot or me with my cactus needle ass? :P

Take care y'all ...

30:0: No comment

30 hours until my weekend is over. It's been raining off n on since Thursday so I didn't even bother driving to the DZ today, but instead went with a friend of mine to the Delta (under the bridge ;) and enjoyed the clarity (and the beauty of it) that only a rainy weekend can provide...
Tomorrow is PJ and movies day...

3 never befores: Jumped at a Texas DZ after moving here a couple monthe ago (it's the rains fault); out of a tiny C182 (Been spolied, onlys Twin Otters and King Airs before); a hybrid attempt with 2 new jumping friends.

2 great jumps:)
Working on the last oneB|;):o:P

Thanks to everyone at Eagle Flight in Granbury, TX. Jeff, Carrie, Bill P., Dale, Jim, Doc and all those whose names I've forgotten (I'm bad at names, I'll remember them after we get out there a couple more times though) thanks for the hospitality and fun time today. See you all again soon!

Hey, did ya meet Malachi? Him and I grew up together, he's also FlyingFerret here on the forums. I really like EF, that's where I started jumping. Doc was my first JM, great guy. You didn't mention that you talked to me here did you, that might have gotten you kicked off the DZ...:P j/k I'm sure they would have only kicked you.;)

No, didn't meet Malachi and honestly I was so psyched to get back in the air I forgot to mention you. I could've handled a kick or two;). Great bunch of folks there, looking forward to getting out there again soon and to some of the other DZ's here in TejasB|

20:1:2

20 is the number of years I turned this Saturday:)
1 hop-n-pop from 4000'. After a month of no jumping it was really welcome, even if it was low and expensive. Went through some, ahem, industrial haze, in freefall. Terrible spot, damn haze;)

2 firsts: first fun jump outside the student progression, first time through a fluffy in freefall.

Skydiving is easy. All you have to do is relax while plummetting at 120 mph from 10,000' with nothing but some nylon and webbing to save you.

50 Jello shots made....about half of them were eaten due do everyone bailing cause of the high winds.

3 jumps, high winds kept everyone but the fun jumpers grounded so they only made a total of 5 loads for the weekend. Great jumps though helped one of the guys with his ink still fresh A license get his 1st 5 way, not only that it was a 3 point 5 way, of course it helped that Hooknswoop and BPS were both on it ;)

1 case of jello shots for my first jumps on my stiletto 97 that I've had for months and haven't been able to jump until now. Fun little canopy but I think I'll stick with my crossfire, I like having bottom end flare. :S

Fly it like you stole it!

What can I say, I'm just a pin cushion. :P

So what was this FUBAR learning experience jump of yours? I learned something this weekend and that was:

#1) Don't jump a canopy loaded at 1.1:1 in 20+ mph winds. In fact it's tempting to pickup a 2nd canopy which has a higher wing loading for days when I jump in higher than normal winds or days that I jump at lower altitudes than the altitudes I'm used to jumping at now. :S

#2) If you do jump in high winds, turn downwind to base, base to final virtually right over your intended landing spot. :o

So what happened with your jump? As long as you had fun and didn't get hurt, it couldn't have been that bad right? :)

Eh..long story. It was just a buncha little stuff that ended up f***ing up the entire jump and bothering the hell out of me. I guess I'm ok since I learned from the experience.[:/] The rest of my studying and training this weekend has helped too. I actually learned more than I thought I did.

2 (ratings picked up) : 7 : lots

Went to a coach/SL-I course at Quad Cities Skydiving Center in Illinois. It rocked! So much hard work, but so much fun too! :)
I learned a good way to get lots of free beer at the bar. Lose your wallet! Well I found it Sunday morning but I did get out of buying any rounds at the bar. I suppose I ought to pay people back though. Lots of beers for all the firsts that take place at a new dropzone! ;) Huge props to Dennis and everyone out there, it is a fun 182 DZ with awesome family vibes!

Can't wait till next summer - bring on the students! B|

20 hours worked since Saturday morning (yes, I count the time I spend on DZ.com as work, if I'm at the office waiting for a client to show)
0 but hopefully that will change shortly
0 nothing owed, several consumed...

dude. were you jumping at Eloy this weekend?

12(hours till i'm off to WA, and can check out Kapowsin):9:1

very windy...a good day to downsize (as planned anyway) but too windy by mid day... sinking in every landing isnt so fun..some of the low turns into the wind happening where frightening to watch

lots of fun dives
tracking in high uppers is really really fast fun..

1st jump on a 170 not alot different than my 190 with the winds we had but i cant wait to play with it on normal days.
